Flat Rock, Michigan--May 14, 2011:  Due to rains and the forecast of more of the same for much of the day, Flat Rock Speedway's UAW Local 3000 Autograph Night program has been cancelled. 

"With the continued rainy weather, the lousy forecast for the entire weekend and taking into account the price of fuel for our race teams and fans, we have decided to cancel our May 14 show," noted Ron Drager, promoter of the track.  "Many of our fellow promoters also have pulled the plug early..it's been a tough start to the season for everyone."

All UAW Local 3000 tickets dated for May 14 will now be honored Saturday, May 21.  The Autograph Night will now be combined with Scout Night next Saturday.  The pit gates will open at 2, practice is at 3:30, time trials are at 5, the on-track autograph session is at 6:15 and racing begins at 7 p.m.

Toledo, OH – The Valvoline Instant Oil Change Summer Racing Series continues with Kids Night on Friday, May 20 at Toledo Speedway.  Kids will receive a free Valvoline Instant Oil Change t-shirt (while supplies last), which they can color with special markers at design stations throughout the night.

Toledo, Ohio--May 25, 2011:  Tim Stewart, the son of Flat Rock and Toledo Speedway track chaplain Jerry Stewart, passed away today, Wednesday, May 25.  He was 43 years old.

Tim suffered a massive heart attack last Thursday.  He was transported to Toledo Hospital where he remained until he passed away.  The family wishes to express their thanks to everyone for the prayers and support over the past few days. 

The family will receive friends beginning at Noon Saturday, May 28 at the First Baptist Church, 4827 N. Holland-Sylvania Road.  A memorial service will follow at 12:30 p.m.  A luncheon will take place after the service.  Messages may reach the family at www.NewcomerToledo.com.  Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Flat Rock, Michigan—May 28, 2011:  Saturday night’s Flat Rock Speedway race card was a victim of rain, as the elements fell during the running of the scheduled 100 lap ARCA Truck Series event.  The red flag was displayed at lap 38, and the rains continued, forcing the cancellation of the event.

(TOLEDO, Ohio - June 3, 2011) - The best weather of the season graced Toledo Speedway Friday evening for the appearance of Sponge Bob Squarepants and the Marco’s Pizza Autograph session with the drivers.  Chef Marco was also on hand to greet the race fans and take part in the night of fun!  Ron Allen, Robbie Loving, Dennis Whisman and Mike Marlow notched feature wins.  Fans also had the opportunity to shred up to 3 boxes of documents Friday at the track, courtesy of Allshred.

(TOLEDO, Ohio - June 13, 2011) - It’s the race that’s described by race fans as a “can’t miss race, you have to see it in person” and on and on.  It’s the All American Coach “Fastest Short Track Show in the World,” starring the Town Money Saver MSA Winged Super Modifieds and the winged Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Super Sprints (AVBBSS)!  Created by Toledo track management, the event has become one of the top open-wheel pavement races in the country.  Time trials have taken on a name of its own, as the 2 groups vie for supremacy---who has the fastest race car on the planet!  The date is this Friday, June 17; the current entry lists are at the bottom of this release.

(TOLEDO, Ohio - June 17, 2011) - The blend of speed and power was once again evident and the large crowd loved every minute right from the start of time trials at Toledo Speedway's All American Coach Fastest Short Track Show in the World Friday night. Charlie Schultz, pulling double duty, set fast time for both classes and electrified the crowd with an astounding lap of 12:389 in Dick Myer's Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Super Sprint (AVBBSS) machine, setting the new mark at Toledo.  Bobby Dawson scored the victory in the MSA Super Modified portion of the night, while hometown driver Jimmy McCune was victorious in the AVBBSS Sprint Car main.  All American Coach owner Tom McGuire and his family presented the trophies in victory lane ceremonies.

(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - June 18, 2011) - A perfect evening of weather greeted the large crowd that ventured to Flat Rock Speedway Saturday night for the Parts Galore School Bus Figure 8 races.  Jeremy Vanderhoof steered his way through some incredible intersection traffic  to win the 50 lap Figure 8 division feature, the duo of Tom O’Leary IV and Joe Whisman snaked their way around the Figure 8 track to win the Figure 8 Train race, and old pro Ray Gaddis notched the School Bus Figure 8 finale’.  Brad Turner took top honors in the Jeff’s Collision 4 Cylinder feature race.

(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - June 23, 2011) - Flat Rock Speedway hosted a practice session Wednesday evening in preparation for Saturday’s ARCA Allegiant Gold Cup 100 lap Late Model race.  Despite a pair of rain delays, practice was held after drying the track.

(TOLEDO, Ohio - July 8, 2011) - JR Roahrig jumped into Bob Blount's #16, came from 10th spot and passed Dennis Strickland with 6 laps to go to win the ARCA Allegiant Glass City Gold Cup 100 lap Late Model race Friday night at Toledo Speedway.  The race went all green flag, giving JR a new track record for the 100 laps in just 27 minutes and 34 seconds on the 1/2 mile paved oval.

(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - July 20, 2011) - The 2011 Indianapolis 500 Chevrolet Camaro convertible pace car replica will lead the field to the green flag for the Saturday, July 30 running of the 4^th Annual Moran Chevrolet/Stan Yee Memorial 150 presented by CGS Imaging at Flat Rock Speedway.  The Camaro will be provided by Moran Chevrolet of Clinton Twp, MI, the title sponsor of the event.  The 150 lap contest for the ARCA Allegiant Glass City Gold Cup Late Models is leg number 3 of the 5 race series between Flat Rock and Toledo Speedways.

Saturday night was the eighth annual 100-lap feature for the A division Street Stocks. In the previous seven races saw a different competitor took the victory and 2011 another different driver added his name to the list. Chad Guinn won Sun Drop 100 in a decisive run. The win breaks the streak for four wins by Scott Selmi, who experience trouble on the way to the track and did not compete. “We finished second last year and weren’t going to back down. I was patient as possible out there. I love long distance races. My experience in the ARCA Lincoln Welder Truck Series and Late Model races are what I was used to running. I want to thank the Meade family, my family and crew,” said the driver of the Gonyea Auto Parts, Dixie Party Store, Guinn Chiropractic, Hedges Used Cars. The #86 finished second in three of the previous races, Guinn in 2010, Brian Norton in 2007 and Regan Ford in 2003.  A round applause goes out to the entire field. With only two cautions and two drop out, wonderful job! Rookie Landon Schuster finished a distant second and was one of four drivers to lead the race. I think Landon is the highest finishing rookie in the race since Regan Ford in 2003. Strangely, like winners, Landon is the eighth different runner up in the event. “Chad was behind me, next thing I saw was him go low on a lap car and he was gone after that. It’s my first 100-lap race, so there’s nothing wrong with finishing second,” said the driver of the Georgia Cable and Boring, A&D Auto Parts, Teamsters Local 20, D&S Boring, Communication Distributors, A-1 Auto Parts, Meg Fabrication, Rocky's Body Shop, Dynamic Designs Wraps, Allsouthautosports.com, Speedway Tire & Auto and Schorling Engines #118. Race winners, 2003-2010:  Brian Norton, Tod Sturgeon, Clyde McKee, Stevie Cronenwett, Ron Allen, Randy DeMaggio, Dan Ford Jr., and Tim Moore. The different runner-ups, 2003-2010: Guinn, DeMaggio, Ford Jr., Jeff Kurzyneic, Norton, Moore, Terry Humphrey and Regan Ford.  Tim Moore who won last year’s version of the 100-lap race, finished third. “Rough out there tonight. Think we broke something in the heat because it rattled the whole race. It was a good points finish for us,” said the driver of the A-Lot Sealcoat and Stripping, Northendscrapmetal.com, Dow Engines, Jay-T Motorsports, Yost Collision #83. Tim is the current leader in the A division points. Fourth went to Jarod MacZink, “Big race and we got loose again. I’m honored to run with them... just a great racing,” said the driver of the unsponsored #7. Scott Selmi might’ve missed the race because of multiple flat tires on the way to the track, but his father, Jim, kept up with the family winning ways ... taking the victory in the 30-lap B division feature. “I had a blast tonight. We just threw an engine together for tonight,” said the 76-year old driver. Greg Studt won the Figure 8 feature. “Starting position is important. The top five guys are all good. I want to thank my dad, Bob, he’s the brains behind the car and it wouldn’t run as well as it does without him,” said the driver of the #33 And last but definitely not least... Congrats to Sam Hall on his first career feature win Friday at Toledo in the Figure 8 division. “It’s been a long time coming, I said if I didn’t win in 10 years I was going to quit. This is my ninth year. Just wish my dad was around to see it. It was weird, in the feature I could see the score board and every time I came by it was on lap 2 (his car number is 02) finally I quit looking and just raced. I want to thank my wife and family, Cathy and Dempsey Apperson, crew Jeff and Jeremy and Nancy at Long Branch Saloon. I also want to thank Steve Bunge for the set of tires. I was trying to get a couple just to race because the ones I had were bald. (FLAT ROCK, Michigan - August 11, 2011) - Race fans will have a chance to win tickets to the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Michigan International Speedway, courtesy of a NASCAR and ARCA race team and a NASCAR Cup driver, the next 2 Saturday nights at Flat Rock Speedway.  Richard Childress Racing (RCR) will award 3 pairs of tickets as part of the lucky number program drawing this Saturday, August 13 at Flat Rock, while David Ragan will personally give away six tickets during his appearance at “The Rock” Saturday, August 20.

(TOLEDO, Ohio - August 15, 2011) - The Toledo Police Patrolmen’s Association and the Toledo Fire Department will conduct a pre-race ticket sale for the Sunday, September 11 Stars and Stripes 100 stock car race at Toledo Speedway.  The pre-sale will serve as a fundraiser, with 50% of the pre-race sale proceeds to be donated to the 2 groups. 

The announcement was made today at a press conference held at the Toledo Police Museum, with officials from the Toledo Police, Toledo Firefighters and Toledo Speedway on hand.  The pre-sale tickets may be purchased from any City police or fire station location.  Tickets are $20 each.

Tickets may be obtained at the following locations; The Toledo Police Museum, 2201 Kenwood Blvd. at Ottawa Park; the Toledo Firefighters Museum, 918 W. Sylvania Avenue; Toledo Firefighters Credit Union, 2275 W. Laskey; the Police Credit Union and Safety Building, 525 N. Erie Street; in downtown Toledo and at the 4280 N. Heatherdowns at Eastgate location.

Salute to Military, Police & Firefighters; Plus 9-11 Tribute
(TOLEDO, Ohio - September 8, 2011) - The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards will pause briefly this weekend before it heads to Salem Speedway the following Saturday night for another short track classic under the lights. However, for local area race fans, there'll be plenty of short track action at Toledo Speedway this Sunday where the final round of the five-race ARCA Allegiant Glass City Gold Cup Outlaw Late Model series will come to life on the Toledo high banks.

Flat Rock, Michigan—September 12, 2011:  Due to the Saturday, September 10 rain-out, Flat Rock Speedway’s Griller Select BBQ Sauce School Bus Figure 8 race has been rescheduled for this Saturday, September 17.  The Street Stocks will also compete, in addition to the ARCA Jeff’s Collision 4 Cylinder Championship race and the 250 lap Enduro event. 

The wives and mechanics race originally scheduled for this Saturday have now been moved to Saturday, October 8, which is the final event of the season at the track.  The Michigan Legends event will not be rescheduled.

The pit area opens at 4 p.m. this Saturday, and the ticket office will also open at 4 p.m.  The front gates open at 4:30, practice begins at 5 and racing starts at 7 p.m. 

Tickets purchased for last Saturday’s show will be honored this Saturday night.  In the event that pre-sale ticket purchasers cannot attend the September 17 event, refunds will be given after this Saturday night’s race by calling the track.

(TOLEDO, Ohio - September 12, 2011) - A pair of rain delays prior to the start of the Sunday afternoon race card at Toledo Speedway cancelled activities for the day.  The ARCA Truck Series and ARCA R & M Recycling Street Stocks had completed their qualifying before two delays for rain stopped the action. 

Many activities were planned to pay tribute in honor of the 9-11 tragedy and those who protect and serve us here and abroad, but they, too, were washed out.

(TOLEDO, Ohio - September 13, 2011) - Robbie Loving and Jeremy Vanderhoof took part in the 2011 World Figure 8 Championship at the Speedrome in Indianapolis.  Robbie, a regular at Toledo and Flat Rock Speedways, finished 4^th in the 3 hour long feature.  Jeremy, the 2011 Champion at both Toledo and Flat Rock Speedways became the 2011 World Figure 8 SuperStock Champion with a 9^th place finish in the feature and also won a qualifying race.  Track officials would like to congratulate Robbie and Jeremy on their finishes at the World Championships.

Toledo, Ohio—September 20, 2011:  A local business and several Toledo Speedway drivers have recently made contributions to Toledo-area non-profit/charity groups.   ACME Dismantling, which serves as the title sponsor of the track’s Sportsman class, donated $1000 to both the Toledo Police Patrolmen’s Association and the Toledo Fire Department in association with an event at the track.   A total of 13 Toledo Speedway Street Stock drivers donated a portion of their race winnings to the Downs Syndrome Association of Greater Toledo as part of an outing at the track August 19.  The non-profit group also sold “Footprints” to the fans for $1 during an on-track autograph session. Drivers John Rabideau, Craig Osenbaugh, Dennis Helsel, Eric Huston, Kyle Huston, TJ Miller, Mike Hammer, Bryan Moore, Rick Cousino, Billy Jackson, Matt Ringger, Dennis Whisman and Brad Turner all donated to the group. Toledo Speedway salutes everyone for their support of such groups.  ...

Toledo, Ohio—September 21, 2011:  After a season of cheering on their boyfriends, or husbands, it’s now time for the ladies to step into the driver’s seat at Toledo Speedway.  Saturday, September 24 marks the first-ever Husband-Wife Figure 8 Train race, with the ladies in charge.  Add to that the wives and mechanics races, the Michigan Legends and the popular Road Course race and you have a great day of entertainment at the Glass City oval. In addition to the racing, the track will host its annual Public Flea Market and Racer’s Flea Market in the track parking lot from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Set-up begins at 7 a.m.  Admission to the grounds is free and space rental is just $20 each for a 20’ x 20’ area.  For flea market information, please call 419-729-0269. The Figure 8 Train races feature 2 cars chained together; the front car with the engine (this is the ladies car) and the back car with the brakes (for the men).  Sooo, the ladies will steer their way around the tight, twisting Figure 8 track at the throttle, going through the intersection, while the husbands decide whether to stand on the brakes or not! The lineup includes Barb and Howard Kelley Jr., Dena and Tom O’Leary III, Chelsea Goro and Tom O’Leary IV, Tom O’Leary Jr. and daughter Tammy O’Leary, Tiffany Lyons and Lonnie York, Trina Apperson and Greg Stevens and Amanda Bland and Scott Apperson. The pit area opens at 2:30, the front gates and ticket office opens at 3:30, practice begins at 3:30 and racing starts at 5 p.m.  Admission is just $10 per adult, kids 6-12 are $3 and under 6 are free. For additional information, log onto www.toledospeedway.com  ...
