Flat Rock Entry List Grows For Saturday’s 100 Lap Allegiant Gold Cup Race
(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - June 23, 2011) - Flat Rock Speedway hosted a practice session Wednesday evening in preparation for Saturday’s ARCA Allegiant Gold Cup 100 lap Late Model race. Despite a pair of rain delays, practice was held after drying the track.
Several surprise entries made the trip to Flat Rock Wednesday. Cocoa, FL resident Jared Allison has paired up with car owner Bill Rievely of Indiana in the car #11. Allison has ventured to this area for several summers to race in the Late Model ranks. Jack Varney Jr., George Rangel, Jim Thiel, Steve Peters and Dan Trosen Jr. were also at the track and have filed entries for the 100 lap contest. Drew Charlson from the Cleveland, OH area and former Street Stock driver Jeff Plumb were also on hand Wednesday, but did not file entries to date. Plumb was taking his first laps in a Late Model. Ypsilanti, MI driver Ken Mathews is also expected to compete this weekend, bringing the entry list to 24 as of Thursday morning.
Several other drivers are still expected to be at the track for race number 1 of the 5 race series, which is set up between Flat Rock and Toledo. The 100 lap event for Late Models is expected to draw 25-30 cars from Michigan, Ohio and Indiana, with $2000 awaiting the winner.
Flat Rock’s June 25 time schedule has the pit area open at 1:30, practice is at 3, time trials are at 5 and racing begins at 7 p.m. The track’s Parts Galore Figure 8’s and DTS Drive Train Street Stocks will also be in action as part of the race card
