FLAT ROCK ACTION WASHED OUT; FIREWORKS RE-SET FOR JUNE 4 PROGRAM

Flat Rock, Michigan—May 28, 2011:  Saturday night’s Flat Rock Speedway race card was a victim of rain, as the elements fell during the running of the scheduled 100 lap ARCA Truck Series event.  The red flag was displayed at lap 38, and the rains continued, forcing the cancellation of the event.

All grandstand ticket rain checks may be used for any remaining event at Flat Rock for the 2011 season.  Fans will need to exchange their rain checks at the ticket office on race day.

Ken Kirsch bolted into the lead at the start of the ARCA Truck Series 100 lap contest.  Fast qualifier Paul Hahn worked his way steadily to the front as the sprinkles of rain began.  With Hahn closing fast, Mike Young took up the charge and stayed glue to Paul’s bumper as the duo closed in on Kirsch and second place runner Ash Hawkins.  Hawkins dove low on Kirsch and took the lead just past lap 25 and stayed out front until the rain ended the night of racing.

Due to the cancellation, the Fireworks display will now take place next Saturday, June 4.  The ARCA Truck Series will return to Flat Rock Saturday, August 6, while the 250 lap Enduro contest has been re-scheduled for Saturday, October 8.

Saturday, June 4, Flat Rock Speedway has a great night of fun and family entertainment on tap!  The Monroe Evening News Night will now feature the appearance of Sponge Bob, two Figure 8 feature events, two Street Stock B Main features, plus the Late Models and Street Stocks!  And to cap the night off, the fireworks display will light up the skies over “The Rock”.  The track will also host its annual Racing Fan Club Night next Saturday.

All tickets are general admission and go on sale race day at 4 p.m.  There is no advance sale for the event.  Time trials are set for 5 p.m. and racing begins at 7 p.m.  Log onto www.flatrockspeedway.com for further information.
