Winged Sprints, Enduro, Boat Figure 8, 4 Cylinders At Flat Rock July 2; Rain Date Is July 3

(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - June 27, 2011) - Flat Rock Speedway is preparing for a 2-race Independence Day celebration over the next 2 Saturday nights, beginning with the July 2 show, featuring the return of the Buckeye 305 Winged Sprint Cars.  The track will have its traditional fireworks display, the Budweiser KABOOOM Night, featuring the biggest fireworks show in track history the following Saturday, July 9.

A rain date for the July 2 show has been set for the following day, Sunday, July 3.  “We have just 4 Enduro races each year, and with the first one being rained out and reset for October, we want to have a contingency plan should the weather affect us this Saturday night,” noted Scott Schultz, General Manager of the track.  “The entire schedule of events would then move to Sunday night, July 3, but hopefully we won’t need that date.”

The Buckeye Winged Sprint Cars are powered by 305 cubic-inch engines, which provides plenty of power and speed for the ¼ mile paved oval at Flat Rock.  The track record is 10:443, set by Mike Sheppard in 2010.  Kevin Shirey of Amherst, OH is the defending race winner at “The Rock”.

The 250 lap Enduro race is also on Saturday’s race card, along with the Jeff’s Collision 4 Cylinders and the Boat Figure 8 race, featuring boats on trailers towed by race cars on the Figure 8 course!

Saturday’s time schedule has the pit area opening at 3 p.m., the front gates will open at 4:30 and practice for the Sprints and 4 Cylinders will begin at that time.  Time trials are at 6 and racing begins at 7 p.m.  Should the Sunday rain date be needed, all the times would move up by 1 hour, with racing to start at 6 p.m.

Race fans that attended the June 25 show at Flat Rock will receive a $5 discount on adult admission for the July 2 race by presenting their ticket stubs at the ticket window on race day.

Saturday, July 9 will be another great night of family fun and entertainment as Budweiser presents KABOOOM Night, highlighted by the biggest fireworks show in the 58 year history of the speedway.  The ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Models, Parts Galore Figure 8’s and DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks  will be in competition.  Race time is 7 p.m.  Log onto www.flatrockspeedway.com for further information.
