REMEMBERING WILLIE B. LEACH

Willie (Bill) Leach, the father of Flat Rock Speedway Enduro tech inspector Bill Leach, passed away this weekend in Memphis, TN.  He was 89 years old.  He resided in Olive Branch, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held at the JL Peters Funeral Home, 3880 Fort Street in Lincoln Park, MI., beginning Thursday, June 9 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday, June 10 from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, June 11 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday.

(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - June 4, 2011) - Despite temperatures in the mid-90’s and high humidity, a good crowd turned out for Monroe Evening News Night at Flat Rock Speedway Saturday evening.  Sponge Bob Squarepants greeted race fans, some wild incidents and 2 at-the-stripe finishes kept things exciting.  The Volcano Fireworks Company capped off the night with a fantastic fireworks display.  The track also hosted its annual Racing Fan Club Night.  The Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club presented Late Model driver Dan Trosen Jr. with a duffel bag in honor of his dedication to the sport. ...

Fans, Drivers Meet Sponge Bob And Win At Toledo

(TOLEDO, Ohio - June 3, 2011) - The best weather of the season graced Toledo Speedway Friday evening for the appearance of Sponge Bob Squarepants and the Marco’s Pizza Autograph session with the drivers.  Chef Marco was also on hand to greet the race fans and take part in the night of fun!  Ron Allen, Robbie Loving, Dennis Whisman and Mike Marlow notched feature wins.  Fans also had the opportunity to shred up to 3 boxes of documents Friday at the track, courtesy of Allshred.

ATTENTION FLAT ROCK AND TOLEDO RACE TEAMS

With the delivery of a new shipment of racing fuel at both tracks comes a new price; as expected, a price increase.  Effective June 1, 2011, racing fuel at both tracks will now be $7.50 per gallon (was $7 per gallon). 

Should the next deliveries drop in price, we will, in turn, drop the price.

TIM STEWART, SON OF CHAPLAIN JERRY STEWART, PASSES AWAY

Toledo, Ohio--May 25, 2011:  Tim Stewart, the son of Flat Rock and Toledo Speedway track chaplain Jerry Stewart, passed away today, Wednesday, May 25.  He was 43 years old.

Tim suffered a massive heart attack last Thursday.  He was transported to Toledo Hospital where he remained until he passed away.  The family wishes to express their thanks to everyone for the prayers and support over the past few days. 

The family will receive friends beginning at Noon Saturday, May 28 at the First Baptist Church, 4827 N. Holland-Sylvania Road.  A memorial service will follow at 12:30 p.m.  A luncheon will take place after the service.  Messages may reach the family at www.NewcomerToledo.com.  Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Strickland, Turner 2 For 2 At Flat Rock; Stadniczuk Claims First Win, Then Rain Again

(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - May 21, 2011) - A nice crowd ventured to Flat Rock Speedway Saturday night for the UAW Local 3000/Stanford-Allen Chevrolet Cadillac Autograph and Scout Night.  With the rain once again in the area, the program was stopped with the Street Stock B Main and the Figure 8 feature remaining.  Both of those events will be added to the June 4 race card.  The track also honored former drivers and personnel at its annual Racer’s Reunion.  A total of 14 races were completed, which is a complete event.

Kids Rule Toledo

(TOLEDO, Ohio - May 20, 2011) - The skies turned blue, the sun came out and hundreds of kids jammed Toledo Speedway for the Wendy’s/Kickin’ Mule Car Wash Kids Night.  All kids to age 14 were admitted free and received a free hot dog, chips and a drink, courtesy of Sherwood Foods, Seyfert Snacks and the Dr. Pepper/Snapple Group.  The Valvoline Instant Oil Change Centers provided free T-shirts to the kids to color  upon their arrival to the speedway.
