FLAT ROCK, TOLEDO GOLD CUP ENTRIES GO OUT; RACE #1 AT FLAT ROCK JUNE 25

Flat Rock, Michigan—May 31, 2011: Entries have been mailed out for the 2011 ARCA Late Model Allegiant Air Glass City Gold Cup Series, a mixture of 5 races between Flat Rock and Toledo Speedways. The 2 tracks are just 30 miles apart, just a short drive down I-75. Grand Rapids, MI driver Mike Root is the 2-time defending champ of the series.
The first race of the five is set for Saturday, June 25 at the ¼ mile paved oval at Flat Rock Speedway. The 100 lap event for the Moran Chevrolet Late Models is expected to draw 25-30 cars from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Canada, with $2000 awaiting the winner. The track’s Parts Galore Figure 8’s and DTS Drive Train Street Stocks will also be in action as part of the race card.
The pit area opens at 1:30, practice is at 3, time trials are at 5 and racing begins at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 25.
An open practice session is scheduled for Wednesday, June 22 prior to the first Gold Cup event at “The Rock”. The pits will open at 4, with practice from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The Series will move next to Toledo Speedway for a 100 lap event Friday, July 8; back to Flat Rock Saturday, July 30 for the prestigious Moran Chevrolet/Stan Yee Memorial 150 Saturday, July 30, and then back down I-75 to Toledo for a Friday, August 12 contest of 100 laps on the ½ mile paved oval. The championship event will be held Sunday afternoon, September 11 at Toledo, and will include a tribute to the 10th anniversary of 911. More details will be announced at a later date regarding this event.
The top 3 drivers in the final points will receive a pair of round-trip tickets from Toledo to Florida, courtesy of Allegiant Air. A total of three (3) provisional starting positions are also reserved from the final points for the 23rd running of the Great Lakes Helicopters Glass City 200, set for Saturday, October 1.
