Strickland, Turner 2 For 2 At Flat Rock; Stadniczuk Claims First Win, Then Rain Again

(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - May 21, 2011) - A nice crowd ventured to Flat Rock Speedway Saturday night for the UAW Local 3000/Stanford-Allen Chevrolet Cadillac Autograph and Scout Night. With the rain once again in the area, the program was stopped with the Street Stock B Main and the Figure 8 feature remaining. Both of those events will be added to the June 4 race card. The track also honored former drivers and personnel at its annual Racer’s Reunion. A total of 14 races were completed, which is a complete event.
Dennis Strickland scored the win in the Moran Chevrolet Late Model race, Brad Turner took the Jeff’s Collision 4 Cylinders, and Tadek Stadniczuk claimed his first-ever win in the DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stock A Main.
The 50 lap ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Model contest saw Fastime Racing Engines and Parts Fast Qualifier Ron Allen roll snake eyes, putting him on the outside pole. With intermittent rain drops throughout, Dennis Strickland beat Allen to the first corner and took the point. Just 3 quick yellow flags slowed the action and Strickland sailed along out front. Eric Lee got by Allen for second on the high side on lap 27 and a lap 34 yellow bunched the field, giving Lee a shot at the fleet Strickland. Dennis was able to maintain the advantage and scored his second win in as many tries at “The Rock” this season. Lee was second, Paull Pelletier third, Allen fourth and Ricky Kargel fifth, followed by Joe Hawes, Royce Cornett, Dan Ford Jr., Keith Nelson and Stan Yee Jr. Hawes, Dick Barker and Steve Peters took heat races. Allen’s fast time was 11:655 for the 21 car field.
Brad Turner was the third and final leader as he grabbed the
victory in the 20 lap ARCA Jeff’s Collision 4 Cylinder race. Rookie Jeff Wells took the green and the lead
at the start, but 2010 track champ David Price took the top spot on lap 4. Turner was on the move and caught Price in
traffic on lap 13, went to the outside lane and grabbed the lead on the way to
victory number 2. Price, Mike Marlow,
Wells, Perry Marlow, Billy Cronce III, Scott Ellison, Scott Marshall and Katie
Caseo were next in line at the stripe.
Price took the heat win, while Turner’s fast time was 14:784.
A new face entered the Winner’s Circle at Flat Rock Saturday
night, as Tadek Stadniczuk led every lap to win the rain-shortened DTS Drive
Train Specialists Street Stock A Main event.
The race was red-flagged and eventually the checkered flag came out with
18 of the 25 laps in the books, as the rain became more steady and made the
track not fit for racing. Tadek stayed
in command for the entire distance and topped Dave Tanner, Brad Wyatt, Rob
Moore, Arnold Kirsch, Scott Selmi, Tim Moore, Josh Bunting, Clyde McKee and
Scot Bunge for his win. Tanner got to
the bumper of the leader and Selmi charged hard on the high side several times
as the track lost grip due to the rain.
Tanner posted the Fastime Racing Engines and Parts quick time with a lap of 13:458 for the 35 car field, while Jimmy Little led the B Main cars at 14:364. The 15 lap B main that was lost to the rain will be contested June 4. Heat race winners were Rob Moore, Bunge, Rich Abel, Little and Michael Phillips.
The Parts Galore Figure 8 feature race of 20 laps also fell victim to the elements. That race will now take place June 4, setting up 2 Figure 8 features in one night! In the preliminary events, Dennis Whisman and Sam Hall were the heat race winners, with Jeremy Vanderhoof the fast qualifier at 20:563 for the 16 car field.
Fireworks will light up the sky over Flat Rock Speedway Saturday, May 28 when the ARCA Truck Series comes to town for a 100 lap contest. The Jeff’s Collision 4 Cylinders will also be in action, and the first of 4 Enduro races will also hit the track for a big 250 lap feature! The fireworks show will conclude the evening’s events. Race time is 7 p.m. Log onto www.flatrockspeedway.com for further information.
