1980-SIMKO TAKES FIRST CAREER TOLEDO WIN
Dave Simko of the racing Simko family posted his first-ever Toledo Speedway late model feature win after several years of competition. Simko started ninth and rocketed to the front, taking the top spot from Jerry Terry on lap 4. Junior Hanley shadowed Simko until dropping out on lap 28 with mechanical problems. Chuck Roumell was a distant second at the checkers, with Ed Cooper, Rick Sheppard and Bob Fox rounding out the top 5. Roumell was the fastest qualifier with a lap of 16.54 seconds, while Hanley won the 4-car dash and Simko and Royce Cornett took heat race victories.
In the sport stock feature it was Steve Cronenwett in the 15-lap feature on the ½ mile, winning over Von Manning, Greg Freed, Randy Deskins and Denny Durecki.
Crazy Dave Whisman scored his third hobby stock feature win of the season, taking the 15-lapper on the ¼ mile over Big John Whisman, Bob Studt, John Salwicz and Mike Barnhart.

TOLEDO, OH: (8-21-09): A hearty group of fans and race teams endured a nearly 1 hour rain delay Friday evening at Toledo Speedway. Just as the Glass Bowl Lanes Autograph session was concluding, the skies opened up, backing up the racing card. The program was altered to keep things moving and an action-packed night of racing took place. Terry Jones, Cory McCaughey, Ryan Beabout, Perry Marlow and Dennis Whisman took their respective features. Glass Bowl boss Ron Gorney presented trophies in the Glass Bowl Lanes Winner's Circle.

TOLEDO, OH: (9-1-09): Entry blanks are now ready for one of the most prestigious Super Late Model events in the Midwest, the Glass City 200, set for Saturday, October 3 at Toledo Speedway. The race will pay $5500 to the winner, with $1000 earmarked to start the 200 lap classic. With special awards and lap money on the line, a driver could walk away with over $7500 for his efforts.

TOLEDO, OH: (9-11-09): Trenton, MI driver Paul Pelletier has filed the first entry for the 21st running of the Glass City 200 Late Model invitational presented by AP Motorsports, set for Saturday night, October 3 at Toledo Speedway. Defending race winner Harold Fair Jr. of Milan, MI and 2005 Glass City champ John Doering Jr. of Flushing, MI have also filed early entries for one of the most prestigious Super Late Model events in the Midwest.

October Date for Glass City 200 Again in 2010
TOLEDO, OH: (11-30-09): The famed Glass City 200 Super Late Model invitational held at Toledo Speedway will remain on the first Saturday of October for the 2010 season. The 22nd running of the 200 lap event will be held Saturday, October 2 at the ultra-fast ½ mile paved oval.

Hugh Fair Passes......
Hugh J. Fair, 84, who raced in the ARCA Late Model division at Toledo and Flat Rock Speedways, and whose son Harold Fair and grandson Harold Fair Jr. are ARCA Late Model drivers at both tracks, died Tuesday Feb. 16.
Hugh Fair was the 1961 Modified Champion at Flat Rock Speedway and drove the #104 ARCA Late Model through the 1960s with top-15 points finishes in 1962, 1963, 1967 and 1969, when he finished 7th.

The I-275 exit at Will Carleton Road (exit 8) will be closed this week, according to MDOT officials. This is the most direct exit to reach Flat Rock Speedway from I-275.
Carleton Rockwood Road (exit 5) is open, but the road is closed for a bridge replacement east of the freeway, which means no direct access to Telegraph Road.
Fans and race teams coming from the north that use I-275 should exit at Sibley Road and go west to Telegraph, then south on Telegraph to the speedway.

"Fastest Short Track Show" Still On for Tonight
(TOLEDO, Ohio - June 11, 2010) - As of 1:45 p.m., the "Fastest Short Track Show in the World," set for tonight at Toledo Speedway, is on!
The area has been dry for nearly two hours and cars are parked in the pit area, readying for the practice session which will begin at 3 p.m. The radar shows no rain at this time in the track area, so we are full steam ahead!
Practice is scheduled for 3 p.m., with time trials at 5 p.m. The show begins at 7:30 p.m.
Incredible Speeds, Incredible Tim Ice, Jason Blonde at Toledo's Fastest Short Track Show in World
(TOLEDO, Ohio - June 11, 2010) - The 2010 edition of the All American Coach/Qualite Sports Lighting Fastest Short Track Show in the World at Toledo Speedway once again lived up to its billing. An unbelievable run by Derek Snyder in time trials lowered the track mark to 12:656 for the Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Super Sprints, while Charlie Schultz got into the 12 second bracket for the MSA/Oswego Winged Super Modifieds with a lap of 12:999. But the loudest ovation of the night went to Tim Ice, the 2-time Toledo Late Model champ, as Ice scored his first-ever Super Modified victory Friday night. Jason Blonde took the Sprint car main. The evening included a 1 hour, 45 minute rain delay that began during the first heat race of the night.

Effective with the June 26, 2010 event, the Street Stock division will be permitted to run a small oval mirror, measuring no more than 3 inches in diameter. It is to be mounted in lowest area of window opening on driver's side and cannot protrude outside the opening of window. Mirror must be mounted in acceptable manner. Mirror may not be mounted with tie wraps or tape.
