Toledo Speedway

Hugh J. Fair, 84, who raced in the ARCA Late Model division at Toledo and Flat Rock Speedways, and whose son Harold Fair and grandson Harold Fair Jr. are ARCA Late Model drivers at both tracks, died Tuesday Feb. 16.

Hugh Fair was the 1961 Modified Champion at Flat Rock Speedway and drove the #104 ARCA Late Model through the 1960s with top-15 points finishes in 1962, 1963, 1967 and 1969, when he finished 7^th.

His son Harold Fair has victories in the ASA Series as well as in ARCA Late Model competition at both Flat Rock and Toledo. Harold Fair Jr. also has ARCA Late Model wins at Flat Rock and Toledo and is an ARCA Late Model Gold Cup Series champion. The elder Fair owned and operated Fair's Shell Service in downriver Detroit before his retirement.

Hugh Fair is survived by his son Harold (Hilda) Fair; daughter Laura (Kenneth) Pigott; sister Marguerite Hurley; 7 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Lillian Fair.

Visitation is 1-9 p.m. Friday Feb. 19 and Services are at 11:30 a.m. Saturday Feb. 20 at the Michigan Memorial Funeral Home in Flat Rock. Interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, London Ontario Canada.
