BUCKEYE CABLE SPORTS NETWORK TO AIR RECORD 10 FLAT ROCK/TOLEDO EVENTS IN 2012

TOLEDO, OH:  (3-28-12):  Buckeye Cable System, the Toledo-area cable television provider, will air a record total of ten (10) Flat Rock and Toledo Speedway events from the 2012 track schedules as part of the popular “Sunday Night at the Races” programming this season on the Buckeye Cable Sports Network (BCSN).  The telecasts are slated for the 9 p.m. time slot. 

For the first time, BCSN will venture to Flat Rock Speedway to tape the two ARCA Allegiant Late Model Gold Cup races, the June 23 Diamond Racing Products Joy Fair Memorial 100 and the July 28 Moran Chevrolet Stan Yee Memorial 150. 

The Toledo Speedway events that are slated to be aired for the BCSN “Sunday Night at the Races” telecasts are the Sunday, April 29 7-Up Twin 100 Late Model show; Friday, May 4 Weekly Friday night Season Opener; Friday, June 1 Marco’s Pizza/Parts Galore Autograph Night; Friday, June 15 All American Coach “Fastest Short Track Show in the World,” featuring the MSA Super Modifieds and the AVSS Super Sprints; Friday, June 29 Hemelgarn Racing/Super Fitness USAC Silver Crown and Midget double-header; the Friday, July 6 ARCA Allegiant Late Model Gold Cup 100 and the Friday, August 17 ARCA Allegiant Late Model Gold Cup Miller Lite 100.

TOLEDO PRACTICE WASHED OUT; SUNNY SKIES FORECAST FOR RACE DAY TOMORROW!

Toledo, Ohio—April 28, 2012:  Steady rain washed out Saturday’s practice session scheduled for Toledo Speedway, in preparation for Sunday’s 7-Up Twin 100’s, featuring the ARCA Allegiant Gold Cup Late Models and the ARCA/CRA Super Series Late Models. 

Despite the rain, technical inspection is underway and goes until 5 p.m. Saturday, as the 61 race teams entered for Sunday’s season opener get ready for tomorrow afternoon’s event.  The forecast for Sunday is for partly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-50’s. 

A section of Toledo’s new grandstand has been completed and will be open for Sunday’s race, giving race fans a new and spectacular view of the track.   

Sunday’s schedule has practice beginning at 11 a.m., with each class getting 1 hour of practice time.   Time trials go at 1 and racing will begin immediately following time trials.  The pits will open Sunday morning at 8 a.m. 

The ticket office and grandstand gates will open at 11 a.m. Sunday morning.  All seating is general admission.

CAMPBELL, SENNEKER NOTCH 7-UP 100 WINS AT TOLEDO

Brian Campbell edged out Johnny VanDoorn to win the ARCA/CRA Super Series 100 lap main, while Terry Senneker sailed to victory over Steve Needles to grab the ARCA Allegiant Gold Cup Late Model victory in the second 100 lap portion of the 7-Up Twin 100's at Toledo Speedway.

Defending Late Model champion, Eric Lee, almost had the win Saturday, after missing his heat fixing a broken steering shaft. “We had a fast car tonight. They kept telling me on the radio that I was pulling away for second place so I was just taking it easy trying to save the tires. FLAT ROCK DRY, READY TO GO FOR TONIGHT!

Flat Rock Speedway:1:40 p.m. Saturday, May 12:  Flat Rock Speedway is getting ready to open the pit area for tonight's show!  The rain has stayed north and west of the track and all systems are go.

Come on out and join us for the Parts Galore 50th Anniversary Celebration of Figure 8 racing at "The Rock".  A large group of former Figure 8 drivers and other former racers will be introduced to the crowd, including the very first Figure 8 champ, Dick "Little Richard" Simmons.

It's also Autograph Night!  Fans can walk onto the track and meet the drivers!  Pits open at 2, practice at 3, time trials at 4:45, on-track autograph session at 6:15, followed by the Racer's Reunion introductions and then racing, which will be highlighted by a big 50 lap Figure 8 feature!  The Late Models and Street Stocks are also in action tonight.

1975 GLASS CITY 200 WINNER JIM BICKERSTAFF-FIRST BUCKEYE TO WIN CLASSIC

In 1968, Toledo Speedway promoter and ARCA founder John Marcum came up with the idea of running a 200 lap Late Model invitational—the Glass City 200.  Despite a 20-year hiatus of the race from 1978-1998 (when the Toledo track was sold), the race was revived in 1999 when Marcum’s grandson, Ron Drager, purchased the track with business partner Roy Mott.

And the race still carries the prestige and notoriety that it once did back in the 1960’s and 1970’s

For the first time in several years, the Glass City 200 overall champion did not win one of the 100 lap segments.  But 1975 champ Jim Bickerstaff (#24) displayed great strength as he battled 2 of Michigan’s legendary short track kings, Joy Fair and Bob Senneker.  Jim became the first Ohio driver to win the Glass City 200….

Toledo, OH 5/9/2008-- Despite drab weather and a rain pattern that surrounded the Toledo area, Toledo Speedway kicked off its 2008 season with the Speedway Tire and Auto/Big Red Crème Soda Night presented by Barney’s Convenience Marts. TOLEDO, OH (8-8-2008)--  He’s 62? Years old, but he doesn’t drive like it, at least on the race track..  The ageless wonder Harold Fair Sr. held back the charge of his son, Harold Jr. to win the 50 lap ARCA Allegiant Air Gold Cup Late Model feature Friday night at Toledo Speedway.  And Harold took the win on Racer’s Reunion Night!  He was presented the Gold Cup by former track champs Danny Byrd and Harold Cook, who were on hand for the festivities.

Former Winner Doering, Michigan Hot Shoe Joe Bush Enter Glass City Late Model Event

TOLEDO, OH (9-11-2008)--  2006 race winner John Doering has filed his entry for the 20th Anniversary of the Miller Lite Glass City 200, set for Saturday, September 20 at Toledo Speedway.  Hastings, MI driver Joe Bush, also expected to be a contender for the win, has also entered this year’s edition of the Late Model invitational, which has been set for 150 laps for 2008.  A cash purse of over $55,000 has been posted, with 200 laps of feature racing planned for the evening.
