FROLING LEADS TOLEDO WIN PARADE

FROLING LEADS TOLEDO WIN PARADE

(TOLEDO, Ohio - May 3, 2013) - Toledo Speedway kicked off its weekly Friday night race cards with Jim Froling, Robbie Loving, Tom O’Leary IV and David Katafiasz capturing feature wins on a cool yet comfortable night at the Glass City oval.

The 35 lap ARCA ACME Dismantling Sportsman feature started with Howard Kelley Jr. taking the lead early in the contest.  Jim Froling charged up on the outside lane of Kelley and the duo ran door to door until they touched, sending the pair into a wild spin down the front straight in front of the rest of the pack.  Everyone avoided contact, Kelley accepted responsibility and that put Froling back into the lead.  Jim stayed in front the rest of the way despite pressure from defending champ Ron Allen for the rest of the distance.  Mike Young got by Kyle DeLisle in the late stages to take third, DeLisle came home fourth and Kenny McKay Jr. took the fifth spot, followed by Kelley Jr., Norm Lewallen, Kent McCloskey, Dan Grigsby and David Frantz.  Allen set fast time at 17:033, with the heat race wins going to DeLisle and Kelley Jr.

COLD FLAT ROCK PRACTICE HEATS THINGS UP FOR NEW SEASON

Flat Rock, Michigan—April 20, 2013:  Despite a dusting of snow on the rooftops and the track surface in the morning, a hearty group of 47 race teams took laps at Flat Rock Speedway Saturday afternoon to prepare for the Jet’s Pizza Season Opener, which is set for Saturday, April 27.  The cold, bitter wind and snow flurries failed to halt the 5 hour practice session, which went off without any incidents.

A variety of race cars--Late Models, Figure 8’s, Street Stocks, Sportsman, Trucks, Enduro cars, Great Lakes Mini Cups and MCR Dwarf Cars zipped around the fast ¼ mile oval in preparation for the 2013 racing season.  The new-look Figure 8’s were sharp, as the class has the option to run without front fenders and nosepieces, giving the cars a Modified-type look.

The final practice session before opening night is set for Wednesday, April 24 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.  The pit area will open at 4 p.m.

Flat Rock Speedway will begin its 60th Anniversary season Saturday, April 27 with the Jet’s Pizza Season Opener, featuring the ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Models, Parts Galore Figure 8’s and DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks.

Saturday’s time schedule for the opener has the pit area opening at 1:30, practice begins at 3 (spectator gates will also open at this time), time trials at 5 and racing at 7 p.m.  The track is located on Telegraph Road, just 5 minutes from I-75 or I-275.  The phone number is 734-782-2480.
