TIM ICE ENTERS SUPER MODS FOR TOLEDO’S FASTEST SHOW

Toledo, Ohio—June 8, 2016: He carries the nickname, obviously, of the “Iceman”; he’s had a touring series named after him and he is perhaps the only driver in recent memory to win both a stock car and open-wheel race at Toledo Speedway. Seville, OH ace Tim Ice returns to Toledo Friday night as an entrant for the MSA Super Modified portion of the 16th Annual “Fastest Short Track Show in the World” this Friday evening, June 10.
The Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Winged Super Sprints (AVBBSS) will also be in action for the one-of-a-kind open-wheel doubleheader. The race is sponsored by All American Coach of Sylvania, OH, Hemelgarn Racing and Super Fitness of Toledo.
Ice built his career and reputation as a tough racer, knocking down 10 Late Model wins at Toledo and had the “Iceman” Late Model Series named after him after winning the titles in 1990 and 1991. Tim also captured the track’s signature race, the Glass City 200, in 2000. Ice began getting rides in the Super Modifieds several years later and is a past winner of the Fastest Show MSA Super Mod event, grabbing that victory in 2010.
The MSA Super Modified portion of the night will feature a 50 lap main event, with $4000 posted to win the race and $700 to start and will be known as the “Glass City Nationals” for the group.
The speedway will also pay tribute to the McCune family Friday night. 3 generations of this family have been a mainstay in auto racing in the area and Jimmy McCune will compete in the AVBBSS class Friday. Jimmy is the defending race winner and is off to a great start in 2016, winning several events.
A.J. Lesiecki posted his first-ever win in MSA competition in the 2015 classic.
Fans can save $5 on adult advance ticket purchases if purchased before Thursday, June 9 at 5 p.m. Reserved, general admission and children’s tickets are available by calling the track at 419-727-1100, by downloading the ticket order form from the track’s webpage (under the ticket button) and returning by email or by stopping in the track office.
The Friday, June 10 schedule has the pit gates opening at 2 p.m., practice begins at 4, with the much-anticipated qualifying session at 5:30. Race time is 7:30 p.m. The front gates and ticket office will open just prior to the 4 p.m. practice.
