75th ARCA Racing Series event at Toledo to honor past winners
TOLEDO, Ohio (May 17, 2016) – When the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards lines up for the green flag of the Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care at Toledo Speedway at 2pm Sunday, May 22, there will be some very special guests in a suite overlooking the track.
To commemorate the 75th running of the series at the storied ½ mile paved oval, Toledo Speedway and ARCA officials have invited back all past winners of those events. In the 74 races held since the first in 1962 won by the late Iggy Katona, there have been 38 different winners, four of whom—Justin Allgaier, Chris Buescher, Ty Dillon and Michael McDowell—currently drive in the NASCAR Sprint Cup and/or NASCAR Xfinity Series.
Among the returning winners and their accomplishments:
BOB KESELOWSKI, Rochester Hills Michigan, 1989 ARCA national champion, 29 career ARCA victories (8th all-time) and the father of NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Brad Keselowski and current ARCA driver Brian Keselowski who is entered in the race May 22.
FRANK KIMMEL, Borden Indiana, 10-time ARCA national champion, all-time leader with 80 career ARCA victories, leads all drivers with 9 Toledo ARCA wins.
MOOSE MYERS, Ft. Wayne Indiana, 1977 ARCA national champion, 10 career ARCA victories, 2 Toledo ARCA wins.
HOWARD ROSE, Ashland Kentucky, Toledo ARCA winner in 1984, 5th in ’84 ARCA championship points.
KEN SCHRADER, Fenton Missouri, 4 career NASCAR Sprint Cup victories, 18 career ARCA victories, 5 Toledo ARCA race wins, current ARCA team owner of #52 Ansell-Menards Toyota entered in the race May 22 with driver Matt Kurzejewski, 1999 ARCA national champion car owner.;
SCOTT STOVALL, Ft. Wayne Indiana, 1980 ARCA Rookie of the Year, 1982 ARCA national champion, Toledo ARCA race winner in 1986.;
BILL VENTURINI, Chicago Illinois, 1987 and 1991 ARCA national champion, 12 career ARCA wins, current team owner of three Venturini Motorsports Toyotas entered in the May 22 race (#25 Tom Hessert, #55 Dalton Sargeant, #66 Cole Williams).
DAVE WELTMEYER, Chicago Illinois, 1987 ARCA Rookie of the Year, 13 career ARCA wins, 1993 Toledo ARCA race winner.
The past winners will participate in the on-track driver autograph session from 12 noon until 1pm and then be recognized during pre-race ceremonies.
The Toledo Speedway race weekend kicks off with Destination Toledo Pole Day Saturday May 21 featuring practice and Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell for the ARCA Racing Series, as well as full programs of racing for the ARCA Truck Series and the Toledo Speedway ARCA Aramark Sportsman division. On Saturday, grandstand gates open at 12 noon, with practice for all three divisions, qualifying for the ARCA Racing Series at 3:30 followed by feature races for the Truck and Sportsman divisions. On Sunday May 22, grandstand gates open at 10am, with the on-track autograph session 12 noon-1pm and racing at 2pm.
