Toledo, Ohio—April 12, 2016: Toledo Speedway’s first of 3 open-wheel shows for 2016 is just over 2 weeks away. The Saturday, April 30 event will feature the Rollie Beale Classic 100 lap feature for the USAC Silver Crown Series. The support division is a Non-Wing Sprint Car show, the first race for these cars at Toledo in over 3 years. The entire night is being sponsored by Hemelgarn Racing and Super Fitness.
Several drivers have already pledged their support for the Non-Wing portion of the contest. 2015 Spartan, MI Speedway Sprint champion Doug Dietsch, his brother, Don Dietsch, John Turnbull Jr., Franklin, MA open-wheel standout Bobby Santos, Nick Landon, Don Hamilton, Matt Goodnight, Tony Main and Brad Wyatt are the initial group of drivers that have indicated they will take part in the Toledo race.
Spartan Speedway officials and management will administrate the Non-Wing Sprint event at the ½ mile paved oval April 30. “We are very pleased to add the Non-Wing Sprint event to our USAC Silver Crown race date at Toledo,” said Ron Drager, Owner and Promoter of the track. “We will be working with the Spartan Speedway staff to get the event off the ground,” added Drager. “The combination of the 2 divisions of open-wheel machines creates a new event for us at Toledo and should be an exciting attraction for open-wheel fans.”
The Hemelgarn Racing/Super Fitness Rollie Beale Classic will pay tribute to the late Rollie Beale, a Toledo native. Rollie was the 1973 USAC Sprint Car champion and a former USAC Series director. Members of Rollie’s family will be in attendance for the April 30 event.
