FORMER TOLEDO SPORTSMAN DRIVER MYERS WINS ARCA TRUCK TITLE

Jeff Myers Jr., former ARCA Sportsman division driver at Toledo Speedway, has won the 2015 ARCA Truck Series driving championship.
Myers Jr., from Lambertville, was the 2014 ARCA Truck Series Holley Performance Rookie of the Year. He began his driving career at age 14 at Toledo Speedway in the ARCA Sportsman division. Myers entered the 2015 ARCA Truck Series season finale Oct. 18 at Lake County Speedway, a ¼ mile paved track in Painesville Ohio, with a slight lead over Cody Quarrick of Uniontown Pennsylvania. Myers finished 3rd in the race to Quarrick’s 2nd place finish to win the championship by a slim 11-point margin, 2298 to 2287 over Quarrick. Shawn Szep won the race. Brad Yunker was 4th and Brandon Huff 5th, with Billy Strehl, Bobby Dale Earnhardt, Katlynn Leer, Matt Sever and BJ Wollerman rounding out the top 10.
Myers Jr. won 5 races in 2015, including the ARCA Truck Series race at Toledo Speedway in May. Steve Perkins of Dundee is the ARCA Truck Series team owner Myers drives for, and sponsors include Todd’s Guns of Lambertville, Tuffy Tire of Mentor and SPEAR Motorsports.
Myers Jr. is a 2015 graduate of Bedford High School and is a freshman at Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI) majoring in motorsports engineering.
“This championship was the result of a lot of hard work and support over the years by countless family, friends, sponsors and local Toledo Speedway racers,” said Myers, who at age 18 became the youngest ARCA Truck Series champion in history.
The series championship banquet takes place Nov. 14 at the Grand Plaza Hotel in Toledo. Also finishing in the top 10 in final points is former Toledo Speedway driver Bob Mikolajczyk.
