2014 WINNER ROAHRIG, GOLD CUP CHAMP GANUS LEAD GLASS CITY 200 CHALLENGERS ENTRY LIST GROWS TO 29
(Toledo, OH—September 14, 2015): A flurry of entries have arrived for the 27th Running of the Great Lakes Helicopter Glass City 200 for Saturday, September 19 at Toledo Speedway. The current list as of Monday afternoon stands at 29, led by defending race winner JR Roahrig of Plymouth, IN and recently-crowned ARCA Royal Truck and Trailer Gold Cup Series champion Jeff Ganus of Constantine, MI. 1976 winner Ed Cooper will serve as Grand Marshall for the race.
Roahrig and his son, Tyler, tested last week at the fast ½ mile paved oval in preparation for the prestigious event. Ganus has had a great season, with wins throughout Michigan, Ohio and Indiana, capped off with his Gold Cup championship. Jeff is also the current point leader for the Main Event Late Model Series. Former Gold Cup champs Mike Root and Dakota Carlson are also entered, as are the father-son duo of Brent and Hunter Jack of Butler, IN. Hunter will be making his first appearance at Toledo.
In addition to JR Roahrig, other former Glass City winners that are entered include Jack Landis (2006), Harold Fair Jr. (2008, 2010), Terry Senneker (2012) and Dennis Strickland (2013).
The 200 lap contest is the longest-distance race for the outlaw-bodied Late Models in the Midwest. A rain date of Sunday, September 20 has been established. The race will award $6500 to the winner, with $1100 posted to start the race. A 20 minute break will take place at lap 101.
