FAIR JR. IMPRESSIVE IN TOLEDO GOLD CUP VICTORY

Toledo, Ohio—July 10, 2015:  Harold Fair Jr. blistered the field on his way to the win in the Kevin Butzin Recycling (KBR) 100 presented by Belle Tire Friday night at Toledo Speedway.  The race was the 4th of the 6-race ARCA Royal Truck and Trailer Late Model Gold Cup Series.  Ron Allen took the ARCA Aramark Late Model Sportsman race, while Tommy O’Leary IV was the winner of the ARCA

R & M Recycling X Car feature.

A total of 19 cars made up a very fast and competitive field for the 100 lap contest.  Dakota Carlson posted the DTS Drive Train Specialists fast time at 15:057.  Dakota pulled a 6 for the inversion, putting Fair Jr. and hotshoe Jeff Ganus on the pole.  Ganus darted out front and ran strong, with Fair Jr. all over his back bumper.  The duo set an incredible pace, with the first part of the race slowed by just a pair of yellow flags.  Harold dove low on lap 24 and picked up the lead and began to stretch the advantage.  The yellow appeared on lap 44 when JR Roahrig slowed.  Fair Jr. made sure he stayed in front on the re-start, powering his way to the point.  Ganus slowed and went down pit road on lap 60, ending his night early.

The race continued on and Harold just sailed away, but a lap 82 yellow flag waved when Tyler Roahrig and Scott Pemberton tangled in turn 3 after a race-long battle for the third spot.  Tyler, in his first Toledo outlaw Late Model race, was very impressive, but his night was over.  The final 18 laps was all Fair Jr., as he zipped back into the number 1 spot on the restart with Dennis Strickland on the outside.  Fair cruised to the victory over Strickland, Scott Hantz, Carlson (who battled his way back to the top 5 after losing ground in a fender-bender) and Brent Jack.  Nick Bailey, Scott Pemberton, Chris Benson, Frankie Jiovani and Guy Fire rounded out the top 10.  Jimmy Ward Jr., Kevin Butzin, Tyler Roahrig, Ganus, JR Roahrig, Steve Cronenwett Jr. and Jack Varney Jr. completed the finishing order.

Don St. Denis and Steve Hawes did not start the race.

Ron Allen came back with a bent-up car after a heat race incident to win the 35 lap ARCA Aramark Late Model Sportsman race.  Greg Stilwell ran strong out front as Allen, Jim Froling and Mike Young battled for the second spot.  Allen caught Greg on lap 14 and posted the victory in the caution-free race.  Froling, Young and Stilwell were next in line at the stripe, with veteran Norm Lewallen fifth, followed by Kevin Stahl Jr., Chad Stilwell, Kenny McKay Jr., Andy Harding, Dan Grigsby, Craig Osenbaugh, David Hinjosa and Tommy O’Leary IV.  Froling set quick time at 17:261, while Stahl Jr. and Harding took the heat wins.

An action packed finale saw Tommy O’Leary IVnotch the win in the 25 lap ARCA R & M Recycling X Car feature race.  Nolan Padgett led the event early after a pair of attempts to start the race were called back.  Craig Osenbaugh nosed out front for a short part of a lap, and O’Leary IV made it 3 wide as he took command.  In traffic, Greg Studt used a lapped car as a pick and took the top spot down the back-chute, but O’Leary stormed back into the lead on his way to the win over Studt, AJ Padgett, Osenbaugh, Dennis Whisman, Dennis Whisman Jr., Mike Miller, Dennis Helsel, Nolan Padgett and Matt Ringger.  Studt set fast time at 11:460.  AJ Padgett and Nolan Padgett took the heat wins.
