KODY SWANSON SETS SIGHTS ON TOLEDO’S KING OF THE WING SHOOTOUT JUNE 26; LEG 2 OF $25,000 HEMELGARN/SUPER FITNESS TRIPLE CROWN BONUS

(Toledo, OH—June 18, 2015):  With the victory in the May 1 USAC Silver Crown race at Toledo Speedway, Kody Swanson of Kingsburg, CA is now poised to go after the Hemelgarn Racing/Super Fitness $25,000 Triple Crown bonus.  Leg number 2 of the 3 races is Friday, June 26 as the King of the Wing Sprint Car Shootout rolls into Toledo.  If Swanson can win June 26 and then again at the September 11 Toledo Sprint Car race, he will collect the $25,000 bonus, courtesy of Hemelgarn Racing and Super Fitness.

The June 26 race is sponsored by Hemelgarn Racing, Super Fitness and Lakeshore Utility Trailer Sales.  Toledo Speedway will be the first event of 3 races in the Midwest scheduled for the Winged Sprint Cars under this format. Former Indy 500 driver and current car owner Davey Hamilton is the lead man for the King of the Wing concept, which will pit drivers from the West coast venturing to the Midwest, and, in turn, the Midwest pilots will go West later on this season.

The 3 stops scheduled in the Midwest, beginning at Toledo June 26, include Winchester, IN Speedway Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28 at the Anderson, IN Speedway.

Toledo track management will also host an open-wheel Racer’s Reunion and a vintage race car display as part of the program for the event.

The winged Sprint Cars are the fastest cars on the planet, as demonstrated by the unbelievable 1 lap track record of 12:389, set by Charlie Schultz in 2011!

Toledo’s event will also include a visit by the Top Speed Modified Touring Series, which will also compete on the ½ mile.

Race fans can save $5 per ticket if purchased before 5 p.m. Thursday, June 25.  Both reserved and general admission seating is available.

Tickets that were purchased for the Fastest Short Track Show in the World that was weathered out last Friday may be exchanged for the King of the Wing event or transferred to the makeup date for that race.  Ticket holders should call the track office or stop out at the track to make the exchange.  The Fastest Show concept, featuring the MSA Super Modifieds and the Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Super Sprints, has been rescheduled for Friday, September 11.

Tickets may be purchased by phone by calling the track office at 419-727-1100, by visiting the track office or by downloading the ticket order form at www.toledospeedway.com.   Most major credit cards are accepted for phone orders.

The pit gates open at 2, practice begins at 4, time trials will begin at 6 and racing starts at 7:30 p.m. for the Friday, June 26 event.  The ticket office and grandstand gates will also open at 4 p.m.  The entry lists for each division will be posted Tuesday, June 23.
