TOLEDO’S NIGHT OF DESTRUCTION DEFIES MOTHER NATURE
Toledo, OH—May 29, 2015: Rain, heat and humidity could not stop a good crowd from witnessing Friday’s “Night of Destruction” at Toledo Speedway. Early rains during the day and a brief shower during the show did not dampen the enthusiasm of the fans and the racers.
Robbie Loving made it 2 in a row by sliding his way to the win in the 20 lap ARCA Praxair Figure 8 feature. Robbie had pressure from his son, Race, early on, but the youngster got sideways and lost ground, giving Jeremy Vanderhoof the second spot. Jeremy got to the door of Robbie with 2 laps to go, but Loving held on for the win over Vanderhoof, Race Loving, Scott Apperson, Dennis Whisman, David Katafiasz, Randy Roberts, Archie Padgett and Dennis Whisman Jr. Jeremy Fragassi’s car stalled on the pace lap and did not start. Heat race winners were Apperson and Race Loving.
The ARCA Factory Stock/Enduro class returned to Toledo for the first time in 3 years and the battle for the win went to the wire. Jeff Metdepenningen nosed out Matt Ringger for the “W” in the 20 lap contest. Ringger charged hard up in the high lane and put on a great show, but Jeff held on for the victory. Rick Bennett was third, Mike Hammer fourth and James Good fifth, followed by Jesse Carrillo, Craig Osenbaugh, Mike Miller, Nolan Padgett and Robb Remick. Good and Metdpenningen notched the heat race wins.
Billy Earley won the Race Car Bowling Contest over Race Loving, Jacob Thomas, Dennis Whisman Jr. and Nolan Padgett. Earley also won a wild Flag Pole race, getting by Matt Ringger on the final lap. Thomas, Randy Roberts, Race Loving, Osenbaugh, Robbie Loving, Apperson, Whisman Jr. and Miller trailed.
Archie Padgett captured the Boat Figure 8 race over Carrillo, Osenbaugh, Travis Earley and Thomas. The Figure 8 Train race was filled with action, with Tommy O’Leary IV/Adam Plonski notching the win. Randy Roberts/Randy Roberts Jr./Billy Earley/Travis Earley, Kevin Stepinski/Erich Heuschele and Joe Vanderhoof/John McKenney were next in line at the stripe.
And the School Bus Figure 8 finale’ saw a wild start and plenty of sheet metal crunched! Jeremy Vanderhoof got over on his side right at the intersection in a pack of 5 buses. Several buses bounced around on 2 wheels and almost went over, much to the delight of the crowd. Through it all, Terry Smith took the checkered flag over Joey Koester, Dennis Whisman, Robbie Loving, Archie Padgett, Jack Franzil and Vanderhoof.
Friday, June 5 is the Glass Bowl Lanes Checkered Flag Night at Toledo Speedway. The first 500 kids through the front gate will receive a checkered flag! On the track, the ARCA Aramark Late Model Sportsman, Praxair Figure 8’s and the Factory Stocks will all be in action.
