(TOLEDO, Ohio – May 13, 2014) – After enjoying their first victory lane celebration of the 2015 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season at Talladega Superspeedway with Blake Jones May 1, Cunningham Motorsports would like to see more of the same at Toledo Speedway this weekend.
As the ARCA Racing Series invades Toledo, Tom Hessert will pilot the No. 77 and Kyle Weatherman will be driving the No. 22, giving the organization good odds to continue that trend. Both teams tested at the track on last week.
Weatherman has driven the No. 22 Ford in three of the five races this season, with a runner-up finish in his most recent outing at Salem Speedway and a pair of fifth-place finishes at Mobile International Speedway and Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville. The 17-year-old Roush Fenway Racing development driver scored his first career Menards Pole presented by Ansell at Nashville; crushing the previous record by almost one second. Currently, he is in a three-way tie in the Calypso Lemonades Short Track Challenge, a newly formed year-end award that recognizes the top driver at 11 tracks that are one-mile in length or less.
In his 16 previous starts Weatherman has a career best finish of second, twice at Salem and once at Iowa Speedway, but he is still searching for his first win.
Hessert comes into Toledo after a disappointing finish at Talladega in the Series’ most recent race. After leading 60 of the 79 laps and having a dominating car all day, Hessert’s fuel coughed on the final restart, relegating him to a 15th-place finish.
The Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care will mark Hessert’s 145th series start. His best finish at the half-mile track was a third in 2010. Hessert has amassed five victories and 40 top-five finishes in his ARCA starts, with four of his five wins on short tracks.
Practice at Toledo Speedway is scheduled for Saturday, in two sessions; the first from 11:45-12:30 ET, with final practice from 1-1:45. Menards Pole Qualifying will follow at 3:30. On Sunday, fans are invited to meet the drivers, trackside from noon to 1 p.m. The green flag for the 200 lap race is scheduled for just after 2 p.m. with live coverage on CBS Sports Network. ARCARacing.com will have coverage of all on-track activities both days.
