PEMBERTON, JIOVANI, STRICKLAND FIRST ENTRIES FOR APRIL 11 TOLEDO  ROYAL TRUCK-TRAILER GOLD CUP OPENER

Toledo, Ohio—March 23, 2015:  Scott Pemberton, Frankie Jiovani and Dennis Strickland are the first 3 entrants for the 2015 season opener for the Royal Truck and Trailer ARCA Late Model Glass City Gold Cup Series Saturday, April 11 at Toledo Speedway.  The 100 lap race will serve as the opening event for the 6-race series, part of the 7-Up Twin 100’s.  The other 100 lap race will be contested by the ARCA/CRA Super Series powered by Jeg’s and ARCA Midwest stock-bodied Late Models.

The trio of drivers will battle many of the top outlaw Late Model drivers in the 3-state area as the new season kicks begins at the Glass City oval.  A field of 20-25 cars is expected for the 100 lap event.  The entry blank may be downloaded from each of the track’s web pages.  It is located under forms.

A $1000 bonus awaits the champion of the Series, with $600 posted for second, $400 for third, $300 for fourth and $200 for the fifth place in the final point standings, courtesy of Royal Truck and Trailer.

Each of the 6 races will also carry the $100 DTS Drive Train Specialists Fast Qualifier bonus.  Diamond Racing Products will add an additional $333 to the award for the July 25 Moran Chevrolet/Stan Yee Memorial 150 at Flat Rock, in memory of Stan Yee Sr.

The dates for the remaining 5 race of the Royal Truck and Trailer Gold Cup Series include the Saturday, June 6 Diamond Racing Products Joy Fair Memorial 100; a new date at Sandusky Speedway as a combination race with the Main Event Late Model Series Saturday, June 20; Saturday, July 10 is the date for the Kevin Butzin Recycling (KBR) 100 presented by Belle Tire at Toledo, and then back to Flat Rock Saturday, July 25 for the Moran Chevrolet/Stan Yee Memorial 150.  The series concludes Friday, August 14 back at Toledo with the Miller Lite 100 presented by Grogan’s Towne.  The August race is also a combination race with the Main Event Racing Series.

All roads lead to the season-ending Great Lakes Helicopter Glass City 200 Late Model invitational presented by Holiday Inn Express and Hampton Inn.  The 27th edition of this season-ending classic is set for Saturday, September 19.

Tickets are now on sale and fans can save $5 per ticket if purchased before 5 p.m. Friday, April 10.  To purchase tickets, call 419-727-1100.  Most major credit cards are accepted for phone orders.  Fans may also stop in the Toledo office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

An open practice session is scheduled for Friday, April 10 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.  Dinner will be served to all Friday pit pass purchasers at the Speedway Bar/Grille at 7:30 p.m.  The grandstands will be open to the public and there is no admission charge Friday.

Saturday’s schedule begins with practice at 10 a.m., with a 1 hour session slated for both groups.  Time trials begin at 1 p.m., an on-track autograph session will take place after qualifying and racing begins at 3 p.m. for the 7-Up Twin 100’s.  A rain date of Sunday, April 12 as been established.
