Toledo Speedway

(Toledo, OH—September 15, 2014):  The current pre-entry list has bumped up to 26 cars for Saturday’s Great Lakes Helicopter Glass City 200 at Toledo Speedway.  Recently-crowned Flat Rock Speedway champ Steve Cronenwett Jr., 2013 Main Event champ Jeff Ganus, rising star Alex Rosenberry and current Toledo Late Model track record holder JR Roahrig are the latest group of entries for the 200 lap outlaw Late Model event.  Several phone calls today to the track indicate the entry list will increase several more cars before the weekend.

Roahrig and Johnny Belott were at the track today, Monday, September 15, to put their cars through their paces in preparation for Saturday’s season-ending classic.  Rain has cut into track time, however as race week gets very busy at the Glass City oval.  Roahrig’s 1 lap mark was set in 2012 at 14:628 during the 200 weekend.

The 40 lap Cassens Transport Sportsman invitational has drawn some interest from racers outside of the Toledo area.  The qualifying procedure for this group for the weekend will feature a format similar to the style now used in NASCAR.  The Sportsman cars will stage on pit road and be given 30 minutes to record lap times.  A driver may go out for as many laps at speed as he desires during the session.

Just 49 laps of lap money remain for the 200!  Sponsorship is just $10 per lap.  Call the track office at 419-727-1100 to add your name to the list today! 

Race fans have the opportunity to save $5 on advance ticket purchases by calling the track at 419-727-1100.  The advance sale will end at 5 p.m. Friday, September 19.

The 200 lap classic for the outlaw-bodied Late Models is the longest race of the year and the track’s signature event.  The race will award $6500 to the winner, with $1100 posted to start the race.  With bonus money and special awards, a driver could walk away with over $9000 in cash and prizes!

Friday, September 19 the pit gates will open at 2 p.m.  An optional practice session for both classes will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.  The grandstands will be open for spectators at no charge for the practice.  Rig parking, pit pass sales, limited tech and tire sales will take place on Friday.  All pit pass purchasers on Friday will receive a complimentary dinner after practice at the Speedway Bar and Grille, courtesy of Francis Engineering.  The ARCA Racing Series event from Kentucky Speedway and the 2013 Glass City 200 will be shown at the Speedway Bar and Grille Friday night.

Race day, Saturday, September 20 has the pit gates opening at 9:30 a.m., practice begins at Noon, the run for the PASSTIME $500 pole award goes at 3 and racing begins at a special time of 5 p.m.  A rain date of Sunday, September 21 has been established if needed.
