2006 WINNER LANDIS LEADS 6 MORE ENTRIES FOR GLASS CITY 200

(Toledo, OH—September 12, 2014): 2006 race winner Jack Landis of Edgerton, OH will go after win #2 at the 26th Running of the Great Lakes Helicopter Glass City 200, set for Saturday, September 20 at Toledo Speedway. The addition of Landis and 5 other drivers moves the pre-entry list to 22 cars as of Friday morning, with several more expected next week.
Joining Landis in the latest group of entries received are Canadian racer Don St. Denis of LaSalle, Ontario. Don finished 4th in the August 100 lap event in his return to the Late Model class. He captured the 2000 Toledo track title and has 15 wins to his credit at the ½ mile paved oval. The father-son team of Joe and Steve Hawes of Brownstown, MI are also on the list, along with St. John, MI driver Scott Pemberton and Painesville, OH racer Billy Roberts
The Cassens 40 lap Sportsman Invitational is also part of the 200 weekend. 2014 track champ Ron Allen heads the list of 12 early entries to date.
Presenting sponsors include Francis Engineering, Discount Tire, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express, the Hollywood Casino and Cassens Transport. Associate sponsors and special award sponsors that have signed on include Stevens Disposal, Sunoco Race Fuels, Bazell Race Fuels, DTS Drive Train Specialists, PASSTIME, R & M Recycling, Penske Shocks, First Care Ambulance and Burge Wrecking.
The 200 lap classic for the outlaw-bodied Late Models is the longest race of the year and the track’s signature event. The race will award $6500 to the winner, with $1100 posted to start the race. With bonus money and special awards, a driver could walk away with over $9000 in cash and prizes!
Race fans will have the opportunity to save $5 on advance ticket purchases by calling the track at 419-727-1100. The advance sale will end at 5 p.m. Friday, September 19.
Lap money is now being taken for the 200 lap event at $10 per lap. To date, 61 laps remain open for sponsorship! Call the track office to add your name to the list today!
Friday, September 19 the pit gates will open at 2 p.m. An optional practice session for both classes will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The grandstands will be open for spectators at no charge for the practice. Rig parking, pit pass sales, limited tech and tire sales will take place on Friday. All pit pass purchasers on Friday will receive a complimentary dinner after practice at the Speedway Bar and Grille, courtesy of Francis Engineering. The ARCA Racing Series event from Kentucky Speedway and the 2013 Glass City 200 will be shown at the Speedway Bar and Grille Friday night.
Race day, Saturday, September 20 has the pit gates opening at 9:30 a.m., practice begins at Noon, the run for the PASSTIME $500 pole award goes at 3 and racing begins at a special time of 5 p.m. A rain date of Sunday, September 21 has been established if needed.
