Toledo Speedway

(Toledo, OH—September 3, 2014):  2008 and 2010 race winner Harold Fair Jr. and Wyoming, MI driver Dave Stehouwer are the latest entries to be received for the 26^th running of the Great Lakes Helicopter Glass City 200, set for Saturday, September 20 at Toledo Speedway.  A purse in excess of $50,000 has been posted for the longest outlaw Late Model race in the Midwest.  Dennis Strickland of Carleton, MI is the defending race winner.

Presenting sponsors of the weekend include Francis Engineering, Discount Tire, Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn, the Hollywood Casino and Cassens Transport.

Associate sponsors include DTS Drive Train Specialists, Penske Shocks, Burge Wrecking, Stevens Disposal, Sunoco Race Fuels, Bazell Race Fuels, PASSTIME, R & M Recycling and First Care Ambulance.

With a win in this season’s event, Fair Jr. would become the third driver to win a total of 3 Glass City 200 events.  Bob Senneker (1970, 1971, 1977) and Steve Sauve (2002, 2003, 2004) are the only 2 drivers to accomplish the feat.  The Milan, MI driver is always a threat to win, but Harold will be looking for his first Toledo victory of 2014 in the season-ending classic.  Fair Jr. was the victor of the Moran Chevrolet-Stan Yee Memorial 150 at Flat Rock, MI Speedway, Toledo’s sister track, July 26.

Dave Stehouwer is a former Spartan, MI Speedway champion and has competed at perhaps more asphalt short tracks than any current driver in his career.  Stehouwer will make the trip from the west side of the state of Michigan to compete in his familiar #33 machine.

The latest pair of entries now join 2012 winner Terry Senneker, Nick Bailey, Jake Francis and Johnny Belott as early entries for the 200 lap, all-green flag race.  A 20 minute break will take place at lap 101 for teams to make adjustments and change tires.

Lap money is available for sponsorship at $10 per lap!  Each sponsor’s name will be listed in the souvenir program and also includes several public address mentions on race day.  The Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club, Rand Thompson in memory of Joy Fair, Ray’s Door of Toledo, Naughton Insurance, Performance Images, Driven Women, in memory of Ron Bellaire and Larry and Jim Hehl are the early lap money sponsors to date.

Race fans can save $5 on advance tickets by calling the track at 419-727-1100.  The advance sale ends Friday, September 19 at 5 p.m.  Most major credit cards are accepted for phone orders.

Cassens Transport will sponsor the 40 lap Sportsman invitational that will run prior to the 200 September 20.  Friday, September 19 is an optional practice from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. All Friday pit pass purchasers will receive a dinner courtesy of Francis Engineering.  The pits will open at 2 p.m. Friday.  Admission to the grandstand to watch practice is free.

Saturday’s schedule has practice beginning at Noon, time trials are set for 3 p.m. and racing begins at a special time of 5 p.m.  A rain date of Sunday, September 21 has been established if necessary.
