Hantz, Fair Jr. prepare for Miller Lite 100

(TOLEDO, Ohio – August 15, 2014) – A couple of longtime Toledo Speedway late model drivers can’t wait for this afternoon’s practice session so they can see what kind of car they will be piloting at tonight’s Miller Lite 100 presented by Grogan’s Towne.
Angola, Ind. driver Scott Hantz, in the familiar No. 72, and Harold Fair Jr. in the No. 71, both have plenty of experience on the high-banked half-mile at Toledo. However, Hantz is coming off a disappointing night at Kalamazoo Speedway and Fair is in a chassis he hasn’t raced before.
“I don’t know,” Fair said this afternoon, “we’ll see in little while. We put the car together in four days. My previous car was destroyed at Shady Bowl last week before the race went green. We’ll see.”
Hantz is a multiple-time feature winner at Toledo.
“Wednesday (at Kalamazoo) was disappointing, so I’m hoping to bounce back tonight,” Hantz said. “This is a different car, though. I think we’ll be good tonight in this race.”
Toledo Speedway is be the site of the final leg of the five-race ARCA Discount Tire Gold Cup Late Model Series Friday night. The Miller Lite 100 lap presented by Grogan’s Towne race will see the Gold Cup Series combine forces with the Main Event Late Model Series for this event, bringing several new drivers to the fast half-mile paved oval.
The Praxair Figure 8’s and R & M Recycling X Cars will also stage their Season Championship races. The evening will be capped off with the Grogan’s Town Grocery Getter Road Rage race in Mini Vans!
2012 Gold Cup champion Dakota Carlson has a 40 point edge on Brad Riethmeyer in the battle for the series title. Carlson has won both 100 lap Gold Cup events at Toledo this season and will be looking for a sweep Friday night for the outlaw-bodied Late Models. Fair Jr. leads the Main Event Late Model 2014 points battle and is looking for a victory Friday night. Drivers will receive points for both groups.
Fair said there are more Main Event races remaining. The point lead is not on his mind right now.
“Not at all,” he said. “Tonight is like any other race for us. We’ve been around Toledo. We’ll be alright.”
