TOLEDO’S MILLER LITE 100 TO DETERMINE DISCOUNT TIRE GOLD CUP CHAMP
(Toledo, OH—August 14, 2014): Toledo Speedway will be the site of the final leg of the 5-race ARCA Discount Tire Gold Cup Late Model Series Friday night. The Miller Lite 100 lap feature presented by Grogan’s Towne race will see the Gold Cup Series combine forces with the Main Event Late Model Series for this event, bringing several new drivers to the fast ½ mile paved oval.
The Praxair Figure 8’s and R & M Recycling X Cars will also stage their Season Championship races. The evening will be capped off with the Grogan’s Town Grocery Getter Road Rage race in Mini Vans!
2012 Gold Cup champion Dakota Carlson has a 40 point edge on Brad Riethmeyer in the battle for the 5-race Series title. Carlson has won both 100 lap Gold Cup events at Toledo this season and will be looking for a sweep Friday night for the outlaw-bodied Late Models. Harold Fair Jr. leads the Main Event Late Model 2014 points battle and is looking for a victory Friday night. Drivers will receive points for both groups.
Friday night’s race will be capped off with the Grogan’s Towne Grocery Getter Road Rage race with Mini Vans! A pace van will be used to lead the field, and you cannot pass the pace van! When that van pulls off the track, the next lap is the checkered flag!
The pit gates will open at 2 p.m., with practice beginning at 4. Time trials are set for 6:15 and race time is 7:30 p.m. ALL tickets will go on sale at 4 p.m. when the front gates and ticket office opens. The rain date for this race, if needed, is Friday, August 22.
Toledo Speedway is located on Benore Road at the I-75/Alexis Road exit (behind Meijer) on the Michigan-Ohio border. The track phone number is 419-772-1100.
