Toledo Speedway

(Toledo, OH—August 12, 2014):  Friday, August 15 is Championship Night for 3 classes at Toledo Speedway!  The ARCA Discount Tire Gold Cup Late Model Series will combine forces with the Main Event Late Model Series for the Miller Lite 100 presented by Grogan’s Towne.  The Praxair Figure 8’s and R & M Recycling X Cars will also stage their Season Championship races.  The evening will be capped off with the Grogan’s Town Grocery Getter Road Rage race in Mini Vans!

The ARCA Aramark Sportsman championship race is scheduled for Friday, August 29, the final title that will be decided for the track this season.

2012 Gold Cup champion Dakota Carlson has a 40 point cushion on Brad Riethmeyer in the battle for the 5-race Series title.  Carlson has won both 100 lap Gold Cup events at Toledo this season and will be looking for a sweep Friday night for the outlaw-bodied Late Models.  Riethmeyer is a Texas native who now resides in Moorseville, NC and will be at the wheel of former driver Bob Fox’s #56.  The race is a combination event for the Gold Cup and the Main Event Late Model Series.  Drivers will receive points for both groups for the race.  Harold Fair Jr., Dennis Strickland and Scott Pemberton round out the top 5 in the Gold Cup points going into Friday night, and all 5 drivers are entered for the Miller Lite 100 presented by Grogan’s Towne. 

Fair Jr. is the point leader for the Main Event Series 2014 schedule, trailed by Drew Charlson, Bryan Clay, Alex Rosenberry and Scott Hantz, whom are all on the pre-entry list for the 100 lap race on the big ½ mile paved oval.  A field of 20-25 cars is expected for the event.

Two more 2014 track championships will be decided Friday night on Toledo’s ¼ mile paved oval.  The ARCA Praxair Figure 8’s will compete in a 25 lap feature on the Figure 8 track.  Jeremy Vanderhoof has a 5 point edge over Dennis Whisman, with Dan Apperson, Race Loving and Scott Apperson next in line in the point standings.  The ARCA R & M Recycling X Cars have a 30 lap championship race Friday.  Tom O’Leary IV, Dennis Whisman, Archie Padgett, Craig Osenbaugh and James McClure make up the first 5 in the points going into the final race of the season for the class.

Friday night’s race will be capped off with the Grogan’s Towne Grocery Getter Road Rage race with Mini Vans!  A pace van will be used to lead the field, and you cannot pass the pace van!  When that van pulls off the track, the next lap is the checkered flag!

The pit gates will open at 2 p.m., with practice beginning at 4.  Time trials are set for 6:15 and race time is 7:30 p.m.  ALL tickets will go on sale at 4 p.m. when the front gates and ticket office opens.  The rain date for this race, if needed, is Friday, August 22.
