STRONG ENTRY LIST FOR DISCOUNT TIRE 100 AT TOLEDO
(TOLEDO, OH—June 3, 2014): Leg number 2 of the Discount Tire ARCA Gold Cup Late Model Series hits Toledo Speedway Friday night, June 6. The Discount Tire 100 lap contest for the outlaw-bodied Late Models should be quite competitive, as a solid list of drivers have entered the race on the lightning-fast ½ mile paved oval.
2013 Gold Cup champion Scott Hantz (Angola, IN) and 2-time Gold Cup king Harold Fair Jr.(Milan, MI) lead the list of early entries for Friday’s event. 2013 Glass City 200 champ Dennis Strickland (Carleton, MI) and former Toledo champs Joe Hawes and Ron Allen (both of Brownstown, MI) are also entered. Car owner Bobby Blount has entered 2 cars, with Michigan speedster Steve Needles (St. Joseph, MI) and veteran Brian Ross (Plymouth, IN) at the controls. 2013 Main Event Series champion Jeff Ganus (Constantine, MI) will also be in action Friday night.
Toledo driver Nick Bailey, Jake Francis (Leroy, OH) and Nick Grodi (Oak Harbor, OH), 2-time Gold Cup champ Mike Root of Grand Rapids, MI and Bryan Clay of Grandville, MI, Steve Hawes of Brownstown, MI, Erie, MI resident Bob Mikolajczyk, Steve Cronenwett Jr. of Canton, MI and St. Johns, MI racer Scott Pemberton are also entered.
Mooresville, NC driver Brad Riethmeyer, a former Texas resident, will make his first-ever appearance at Toledo Friday night. Brad finished 3rd in the first round of the Gold Cup Series, the Diamond Racing Products Joy Fair Memorial 100 at Flat Rock Speedway May 24.
Race fans will see two divisions in competition on the ½ mile Friday night, as the ARCA Aramark Sportsman will battle in a 35 lap main event. The Great Lakes Mini Cup Cars will make the trip to Toledo and will compete on the ¼ mile oval Friday night.
The pit area opens at 1:30 p.m., practice begins at 4, time trials are at 6 and racing begins at 7:30 p.m. The front gates will open at 4. All tickets go on sale at 4 p.m. race day at the speedway.
