TOLEDO TO HOST BIG BACK-TO-BACK EVENTS JUNE 6, JUNE 13

Toledo, Ohio—May 30, 2014:  Toledo Speedway will play host to 2 major events both June 6 and June 13. Race fans, both stock car and open wheel, will be treated to fast-paced action on the ½ mile paved oval for the next 2 Friday nights.

Friday, June 6 the ARCA Discount Tire Gold Cup Late Model Series will hit the track for the Discount Tire 100 presented by the Hollywood Casino. 2013 Gold Cup champ Scott Hantz, Harold Fair Jr., Dennis Strickland, Jeff Ganus, Nick Bailey, Steve Cronenwett Jr., Joe Hawes, Brian Clay, Ron Allen, Jake Francis and Brad Riethmeyer have all filed entries to date.

The race is leg number 2 of the 5-race Discount Tire Gold Cup Series and the first of 3 at Toledo this season.  In addition to the 100 lap all-green flag Discount Tire 100, the ARCA Aramark Sportsman and the Great Lakes Mini Cup Cars will also be in competition.

The re-scheduled Scout Night will also be held June 6, with all scouts in uniform and leaders in uniform with an ID card admitted free of charge to the event.  Practice begins at 4, time trials are at 6 and racing begins at 7:30 p.m.  All tickets will go on sale race day at 4 p.m.  There is no pre-sale for this race.

It’s the race that’s described by race fans as a “can’t miss race, you have to see it in person” and on and on.  It’s the All American Coach/Hemelgarn Racing/Super Fitness “Fastest Short Track Show in the World” at Toledo Speedway, starring the MSA Winged Super Modifieds and the winged Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Super Sprints (AVBBSS)!  Created by Toledo track management 12 years ago, the event has become one of the top open-wheel pavement races in the country.  The date is Friday, June 13.

Defending race winners for the All American Coach/Hemelgarn Racing/Super Fitness Fastest Short Track Show in the World are hometown star Jimmy McCune in the MSA Super Modifieds and Troy DeCaire for the AVBBSS Sprints.

Arriving early to see practice and perhaps the most exciting qualifying session at a short track in the nation is a must!  In the 2011 time trials, an incredible lap of 12:389 was set by Sprint driver Charlie Schultz.  Cody Gallogly came up just short in his bid for a new mark in the 2013 edition of qualifying, clocking in at 12:591.  The Super Modified record is 12:893, set by Chris Perley of Maine in 2009.  Mike Lichty flirted with the record in 2013, just missing a new mark with his lap of 12:940 last season.

The speedway will stage a pre-race ticket sale for the June 13 contest.   Race fans can save $5 per ticket by purchasing their tickets prior to race day.  The track will offer both reserved seating (with backrests) and general admission tickets for the advance sale.  Major credit cards are accepted for phone orders and on race day.  To obtain advance tickets, please call the track office at 419-727-1100 or the ticket order form may be downloaded from the track’s webpage.

The pit area will open at 2, practice begins at 3:30 and the front gates will also open at 3:30.  The much-anticipated time trials hit the track at 5:30 and racing begins at 7:30 p.m.  Log onto www.toledospeedway.com for further information and updates.  Like us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/toledoflatrock or follow us on Twitter @toledospeedway.
