Kimmel looks to add to Toledo win list

(TOLEDO, Ohio – May 18, 2014) – Frank Kimmel has won at Toledo Speedway when he’s started at the front of the field and when he’s started near the back. If he is going to win today’s Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care at Toledo Speedway, he’s going to have to come from the middle.

Kimmel, a nine-time winner at Toledo, will start 16th today as he seeks his 81st all-time ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards win.

“It doesn’t always matter where you start,” Kimmel said. “We’re going to go out there and start working our way to the front.”

Kimmel said the No. 44 Ansell-Menards Toyota improved greatly throughout the morning practice sessions Saturday. By Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell time, he said, the car was good.

“I just got too free and we had to save it,” he said. “On the second lap we just made the lap instead of trying to improve our qualifying. We had to save the car there.”

Mason Mitchell will start on the pole after setting a track qualifying record. Grant Enfinger, a three-time winner already this season, will start on the outside pole.

Kimmel last won at Toledo in 2005.

“Toledo is the perfect size track for these big, heavy cars, and it’s such a good show, from the grandstands and from the driver’s seat. I just love the place.”

The Menards 200 will have an on-the-track autograph session from noon to 1 p.m. while Nashville recording artist “Lucy Angel” performs. Pre-race ceremonies start at 1:30 p.m. with racing around 2.

The race will be live on Fox Sports 1 with announcers Rick Allen and Phil Parsons. Jim Tretow and Ray Dunlap are pit road reporters.
