Haley Toledo! 15-year-old among five fastest in final practice

(TOLEDO, Ohio – May 17, 2014) – Mason Mitchell threw out the first pitch at the world famous Toledo Mud Hens game Friday.
“Some of my guys were telling me I wasn’t going to get the ball to the plate, but I did,” Mitchell said. “I showed them.”
Today, Mitchell showed his teammates how fast he can get around Toledo Speedway. Mitchell had the fastest time in each of the two practice sessions, including a fast lap of 114.344 mph.
“The car is good,” he said. “We came up here and tested. Things have improved as the day has gone on. We learned a lot in testing and we’ve improved. It’s better now.”
Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell will be at 3:30 p.m. today.
Matt Tifft, Justin Boston, Josh Williams (pictured right) and J.J. Haley also recorded top five speeds in the second session.
Boston and Haley are both Venturini Motorsports drivers. Haley turned 15 on April 28 and will be the youngest driver in series history when he starts the Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care at 2 p.m. Sunday.
While a SCOTT Rookie, Haley is no rookie to Toledo Speedway. The Indiana driver drove last year in the ARCA Sportsman Division at the high-banked, half-mile.
“I love Toledo,” Haley said. “It’s fast.”
Haley tested with Venturini Motorsports and is happy with his new team.
“I really like the team,” he said. “They have made it real easy for me. They are nice and we work well together.”
Discounted tickets for Sunday’s Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care at Toledo Speedway are now on sale at six Menards stores in northwest Ohio. The tickets are available for the special price of $15 between now and race day if purchased at Menards.
The Menards stores selling the discounted tickets include Defiance, Findlay, Holland, Oregon, Sandusky and Toledo, Ohio. Adult tickets are $15, with children ages 6-12 $3 and children under 6 are free.
The race at Toledo will be the fifth race of the 2014 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season. It will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1.
