New generation "Alabama Gang" Allison & Enfinger steering for Toledo

(TOLEDO, Ohio - May 7, 2014)  As the grandson of Donnie Allison and great nephew of Bobby Allison (members of the original Alabama Gang), Justin Allison hopes to carry on the family legacy. His next step – short track style at Toledo Speedway in the Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care May 17-18.

Current Menards 200 Entry List

As Allison continues to advance his racing career, he’s forging an alliance with his Team BCR teammate and Alabaman Grant Enfinger, the current ARCA point leader. Together, they could become the new “Alabama Gang.”

Allison, in the No. 88 Havacosales.com Ford, has just three ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards starts under his belt – all on superspeedways (Daytona, Talladega & Kansas). However, the ARCA rookie will make his ARCA short track debut at Toledo.

“This is where the ‘real racing’ will happen,” Allison said. “Racing at these speedways, such as Daytona and Talladega, has a tremendous amount of variables.  At the short tracks, you not only have to bring a fast car, but have the talent as a driver. Howard Bixman and Team BCR have a proven winning short track program. I think we’ll be a threat to our competition in Toledo since short track racing is what I grew up on and have the most experience with.”

Enfinger, in the No. 90 Motor Honey/Casite – Triple K Construction Ford, won the first three races of the season at Daytona, Mobile and Salem. The Fairhope, Alabama driver answered that with his second career pole award at Talladega.

Enfinger raced Ken Schrader door to door in last season’s Menards 200 at Toledo, until cutting a tire down in the final laps. Ironically, it was Schrader who cut down a tire at Salem a few weeks ago in the closing laps, opening the door for Enfinger, who went straight to victory lane.

“Toledo’s a really good track to race at,” Enfinger said. “We were very competitive last year and we’re bringing that same car back with us. We’ve made improvements, and I think we’re going to be even better than we were.”

Less than a week ago, running the full season for Enfinger was in question. However, Team BCR owner Howard Bixman announced last Saturday, just prior to the race at Talladega, that Enfinger will run the entire 2014 season.

Enfinger had planned a limited schedule, just as he did last year with Team BCR. However, after becoming just the second driver in series history to win the first three races in a year, his primary sponsor, Casite-Motor Honey-Advance Auto Parts, agreed to back the No. 90 Ford for the entire season.

“We’re just so excited, so pleased,” Bixman said. “We’ve been working on this. Grant has had a great start to the season and we’re happy to get to keep this going, especially considering where we are in the points.”
