Four-Time Toledo Winner Fair Jr., Enters Glass City 200
TOLEDO OH (9-17-07)--The hottest driver at Toledo in Late Model competition this year, Harold Fair Jr. , has filed his entry for this Saturday's September 22 Miller Lite Glass City 200 presented by National City Bank and Allegiant Air at Toledo Speedway.
The second-generation star grabbedfour offive wins in 2007 at the .5-mile, high-banked paved oval. Another second generation star, Brian Campbell, will pilot the No.47 normally driven by his father, Fred Campbell at the Saturday contest.A flurry of entries has the entry list now at 33 as of Monday morning, with a few more expected before the event. Locals Jeff Bailey, Kevin Stahl and Gary Denis have entered, along with Floridian Jared Allison, who will be at the wheel of Harold Fair Sr.'s number 7. Allison finishedsixth at Toledo in his debut Labor Day weekend. Joe Taylor, Steve Peters and Claude Plante Jr. will also be vying for starting spots in the 200 lap classic.
A cash purse of over $70,000 has been posted, with $7000 going to the winner, as well as cash bonuses and contingency awards also at stake. The 200 lap contest pays $1000 to start the event in the 31-car field.
The speedway is inviting back all former winners of the Glass City 200 for the 2007 edition of the event. They include 1968 winner Joy Fair, 1970, 71, and 77 champ Bob Senneker, Danny Byrd-1972; Joe Ruttman, 1969 and 1973; Jim Bickerstaff, 1975; Ed Cooper, 1976; Tim Felver, 1999; Tim Ice, 2000; Jr. Hanley, 2001; Steve Sauve, 2002, 03, 04; Doering Jr., 2005 and Landis, 2007. Felver, Ice, Sauve, Doering and Landis obviously remain as active drivers. 1974 winner John Anderson lost his life in an auto accident years ago.
Race fans havetwo chances to walk away with some very special prizes at the 200 September 22. $500 in cash will be awarded to a lucky race fan in the Wynn's/LV Enterprises Half-Way Challenge. All fans are eligible to enter the drawing as they enter the track Saturday.
Saturday's schedule has the pits opening at 9 a.m., with practice at Noon, time trials at 3 and racing at 5 p.m. A rain date of Sunday, September 23 has been established, with a 1 p.m. start time if needed.
The track will offer a $5 discount to all Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club Members and Dayton Auto Racing Fan Club members for Saturday's event by showing their card at the ticket window. The track will also admit all Scouts in uniform FREE to the biggest race of the season at the .5-mile paved oval.
Saturday's race card will include practice, time trials, last-chance races, the 25 lap B Main and the Miller Lite Glass City 200 lap race, plus a last-chance race and 40 lap ARCA National City Bank Sportsman feature, along with a 25 lap ARCA A-1 Auto Parts Factory Stock main event.
Reserved seats are now on sale for the race by calling the track at 419-727-1100. Cash, VISA and Mastercard will be accepted for advance ticket orders only. The speedway is located on Benore Road at the I-75/Alexis Road exit on the Michigan-Ohio border. For up to date information, click here
