Bowen fast in first of two Toledo visits

(TOLEDO, Ohio – April 11, 2014) -- Anderson Bowen is one of the drivers who will not only compete this weekend in the season opener at Toledo Speedway, he will also be back in May when the track hosts the Menards 200 in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards. Bowen was the third-fastest car in each of the first two sessions Friday.

“We’ve been fast all day, a lot faster than last year,” Bowen said, crediting a new race car and new crew chief.”

Bowen won a JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour event at Watermelon Capital Speedway in 2012, the same year he won the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Rookie of the Year honor.

“I think it’s going to be a close race,” Bowen said of Saturday’s 150-lap feature. “This place reminds me of Pensacola Raceway in Florida. It has a lot of the same characteristics.”

Bowen was 15th in the 7UP 150 last year.

Last month, he competed in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards race at Mobile International Speedway and plans on running in more ARCA races this season with Cunningham Motorsports, the same team that developed current NASCAR Sprint Cup rookies Parker Kligerman and Alex Bowman.

Bowen isn’t looking that far ahead at the moment. Friday, he was focused on his late model program.

“I’m having a lot of fun out there,” he said.
