Hoosier Racing Tire Oval Asphalt Product Manager Irish Saunders conducted an informational racing tire seminar exclusively for ARCA race teams Saturday at the Toledo Speedway Bar & Grill. Nearly 100 ARCA members, primarily from Flat Rock and Toledo Speedways, were on hand for the presentation, followed by an all-encompassing question-and-answer session.

Saunders, with 30-plus years of experience at Hoosier, was entertaining and informative as he fielded questions and requests for detailed information from the audience for nearly 2-1/2 hours. The event kicked off with Flat Rock-Toledo Speedway General Manager Scott Schultz and ARCA President Ron Drager introducing Saunders, who provided an informational video documenting the history of Hoosier Racing Tire from its founding by Bob and Joyce Newton in 1957 through its decades of servicing the racing tire needs of racers in every discipline of racing. Saturday’s attendees represented every division of ARCA sanctioned racing at Flat Rock and Toledo including Late Model, Sportsman, Figure-8, Street Stock, X-Car and Enduro competition. In addition, race team members from the ARCA CRA Super Series, ARCA Truck Series and ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards were on hand, in addition to numerous ARCA Officials and Staff.

Questions directed to Saunders covered virtually every aspect of Hoosier Racing Tire operations, including hot and cold tire pressures and their measurement and effect, tire temperatures, stagger, tire sizing and growing the size of tires, chalk marks and tire tape measurement, proper tire storage, breaking in sticker tires, repeatability, mounting, proper use of durometers and pyrometers, spring rates and their relative effect on tires and vice versa, tire rotation, mounting and dismounting, balancing, rear end camber, tire cleaning and storage, tire barcodes, build codes, and the overall Hoosier Racing Tire manufacturing and tire construction process.
