NESTER-DeLISLE JR.-O’LEARY TOP TOLEDO MEIJER NIGHT AT THE RACES ACTION

(TOLEDO, Ohio - August 2, 2013) - An early afternoon rain stopped just before the pit area opened, allowing for Toledo Speedway’s Meijer Night at the Races to take place. Brian Nester took the Top Speed Modified Tour race, while Kyle DeLisle Jr. was the victor in the ARCA ACME Dismantling Sportsman feature. Tommy O’Leary captured the Road Course race as all 3 winners visited the Sun Drop Winner’s Circle.
The Top Speed Modified Tour made their initial stop at Toledo, with Brian Nester claiming the win in the 40 lap main event. The first 13 laps saw the trio of leader Jonathan Martin, Nester and Trevor Berry run under a blanket. They diced back and forth until Berry had an engine let go, bringing out the yellow flag on lap 13. On the restart, Martin looped his machine, giving Nester the point and Brian took off as the race went green the rest of the way. Nester took the win as he sailed to victory over Tim Burkett, Josh Weyher, Damon Breedlove, Greg Fuller, Dave Christiansen, Brad Wyatt, Martin, Mark Bott, Norm Taylor, Kenny Phillips, Ralph Baxter, Tommy O’Leary, Berry and Jim Resnew. Berry set fast time at 16:689 for the 15 car field and won the fast heat. Weyher captured the other heat win.
LaSalle, Ontario driver Kyle DeLisle picked up victory number 2 of the season, scoring the win in the 35 lap ARCA ACME Dismantling Sportsman feature. Ron Allen led the first 8 laps until Howard Kelley Jr. motored by on the outside for the lead on lap 9. On lap 11, the yellow appeared when Greg Stilwell and Kent McCloskey tangled. Allen dropped out with a flat tire at that point and on the restart, DeLisle, running second, got to the front and took control of the race, which went green for the final 24 laps. DeLisle withstood Kelley’s charge to take the win, with Mike Young third, Jim Froling fourth and Norm Lewallen fifth, followed by Kenny McKay Jr., Andy Harding, Jeff Myers Jr., David Frantz, Dan Grigsby, Rich Abel, Allen, Stilwell and McCloskey. Allen and McKay Jr. were the heat race winners, as McKay Jr. nipped Myers Jr. by inches to win that heat race. Young set fast time at 17:386 for the 14 car field.
Tommy O’Leary, pulling
double duty, notched the win in the 20 lap Road Course race, which used parts
of the ½ mile, ¼ mile and pit road. A
new chicane added a little flavor to the race as O’Leary zipped to the win over
Dennis Whisman, Archie Padgett, Matt Ringger, Stephanie Bradley, Adam Plonski,
Eric Padgett and Randy Padgett Jr.
