GUINN WINS THRILLING CORRIGAN RACE FUELS 100
GUINN WINS THRILLING CORRIGAN RACE FUELS 100

(Flat Rock, MI - June 8, 2013) - Chad Guinn made the pass on race leader Tim Moore on the white flag lap with a 3-wide move to snare the win in the thrilling finish to the Corrigan Race Fuels 100 lap feature for the ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks Saturday night at Flat Rock Speedway. Darrell Krause, Morgan Baird and Robbie Loving also posted feature wins in their respective divisions on a beautiful night for racing.
The track also hosted Kids Night, which brought out a
large group of families and fresh faces to the track to watch not only the
Corrigan Race Fuels 100, but the TKC Go-Karts, Great Lakes Super Mini Cups and the
ARCA Parts Galore Figure-8’s. Each child
under 14 was admitted free to the event and each received a free hot dog, chips
and a drink, courtesy of Sherwood Foods, Jim’s Butcher Shop of Flat Rock,

Company.
Guy Fire set the Fastime Racing Engines and Parts Quick
time for the DTS Drive Train Specialists 32 car Street Stock field with a lap
of 13.569. Guy pulled a 9 for the
inversion, putting Scot Bunge and Jarod Maczink on the front row. Bunge took the lead at the start, with the
first 20 laps going caution-free. A trio
of yellow flags slowed the action in the next 7 laps. On a lap 30 restart, Tim Moore grabbed the
lead over Bunge, with Jarod MacZink right there in third spot. The yellow came back out on lap 47 when
MacZink lost a rotor, ending his fine run.
Bunge continued to stay with the leader and shadowed Tim for much of the
race as the lap 50 mark went in the books.
Moore, Bunge, Rich Frantz, Chad Guinn and Grant Hedges were the top 5
cars at the half-way mark.
As drivers were deciding when to make their moves to the
front, Craig Lange had an engine let go on lap 74, the 7th yellow
flag of the event. This set up another
double-file restart, with an amazing 20 cars still on the track from the 24 car
starting field. As the laps wore down,
it appeared that things would remain unchanged, but Chad Guinn had other
ideas. Using the high lane, Guinn worked
Bill Meade’s #86 up to the door of Frantz to take third with 5 to go. With 3 laps left, Guinn nosed by Bunge for
second, still in the outside groove.
Moore continued out front and as Chad closed in on Moore with 2 to go,
the crowd cheered—the race to the flag was on!
The lead duo had 2 lapped cars in front of them coming out of turn 4 for
the white flag. Tim moved to the 2nd
lane to get by, while Guinn went to the third lane, leaving Joe Haener on the
bottom. Those 3 cars ran 3 wide through
turns 1 and 2 and down the backchute, Guinn charged by and sailed to the
checkered flag for the amazing finish and $1000 first place money. Moore’s great run netted him second spot,
Bunge’s tremendous run gave him third spot, veteran Frantz was fourth and Grant
Hedges took fifth. Rob Moore, Chris
Fitzpatrick, Nick Shanks, Steve Searles and Tadek Stadniczuk completed the top
ten. Fire, Danny Bennett, Arnold Kirsch,
Landon Schuster, Scott Selmi, Kevin Stahl Jr., Corey Duane, Jeff Luttermoser,
Kyle Worley, Haener, Clyde McKee, Lange, MacZink and Chris Diovardi were next
in line in the finishing order.
Things got started in the wrong direction on the green
flag of the 20 lap B-Main DTS Street Stock feature. A full lap was never completed at the start
as Rich Abel and Aaron Greathouse got together, stopping the action. When the race did get the green flag, Darrell
Krause had the lead with Michael Kieffer on his bumper. In lap 7, Rick Bennett took over second
position from Kieffer, but Michael grabbed back that spot later in the
race. Krause stayed out front and
grabbed the win and went to the Sun Drop Victory Lane. Kieffer was second, Pete Shrake third,
Bennett fourth and Gary Calhoun fifth, Nick Bradley, Abel and Greathouse were next
in line at the finish. Michael Kieffer was the Fastime Racing Engines
and Parts fast qualifier with a lap of 14.167 for the B Main cars. Heat race winners were Abel, Scott Selmi, Rob
Moore and Danny Bennett.
The Great Lakes Mini Cups made their first visit to Flat
Rock Speedway and Morgan Baird set fast time (14.173), won his heat and the 20
lap feature, giving him a clean sweep for the night and 2 feature wins for the
weekend. Baird also won the feature
Friday night at Toledo. Elliott Pritchett
and Daren Bohne battled for the lead early on in the green-white-checkered feature. Baird took control on lap 9 and zoomed to the
victory. Pritchett was second, Bohne third,
Tim Phillips fourth and Kim Hughes fifth, followed by Justin Carley, Kyle
Trinklein, Stefanie Hile, Doug Higsby, Bill Rychel and Matt Kemp. Kemp took the win in the other heat race.
The wild and entertaining ARCA Parts Galore Figure 8
drivers put on a show for the fans to cap off a great night of racing at “The
Rock”. The event ran all green flag,
stretching out the field and making for some interesting near-misses at the
intersection. Billy Earley, at the controls of Dempsey Apperson’s machine, was
out front when Robbie Loving got into Earley on lap 13, sending Billy into a
spin. Loving motored away and stayed in
front to take the victory. Robbie
apologized to Earley and car owner Apperson for the mishap in his post-race
track interview. Jeremy Vanderhoof came
home in second, Dennis Whisman was third, Jeremy Miller fourth and Greg Studt
fifth, followed by Dannhy Gaddis, Dan Apperson, Earley, Jerry Lee, Randy
Roberts, Stephanie Bradley and Ian Jezylo.
Roberts got the unofficial Daredevil of the Night Award for his
intersection dodge-em car expertise!
Greg Studt posted a lap of 20.983 to take the Fastime Racing Engines and
Parts Quick time award.
