FLAT ROCK-TOLEDO SPEEDWAY BULLETIN—NOVEMBER 20, 2012

This is the first of our monthly off-season bulletins.  It will be posted here on the webpages and emailed to our members who have provided email addresses.  If you would like to be added to that list, email your address to Sherry at smiller@arcaracing.com

Please direct any calls to the Toledo office during the winter months; the Flat Rock office is closed.  The Toledo phone number is 419-727-1100.

TAX FORMS:  The W-9’s are posted under forms.  IF someone other than the driver is to receive the winnings, this form MUST be filled out and sent to the office.

AGE LIMIT FOR DRIVERS:  Beginning with the 2013 season, the minimum age to race at Flat Rock and Toledo will be 14 years old.  ALL drivers younger than 16 will have a set of requirements to meet, which is outlined below:  Personal meeting with ARCA officials; background profile/resume, private on-track test session with observers on hand, restrictive/probationary status for designated period of time.  Please contact the track if you have a driver under the age of 16 that will be competing next season.

TOLEDO SPEEDWAY BAR/GRILLE:  Changes are in store at the Bar/Grille as we move toward the 2013 racing season.  Casey Wagner, our Assistant GM, is filling in as bar manager for the winter months.  We will be making announcements regarding the bar soon.

CHRISTMAS PARTY AT THE BAR/GRILLE!  Everyone is invited to a Christmas Party Friday evening, December 21.  The bar will be holding its annual Customer Christmas Party, and we would like to invite all officials, sponsors and race team members to join us.  If you would like to be part of the white elephant gift exchange (begins at 7 p.m.), bring a gift with you!  The bar opens at Noon December 21.

HOLIDAY GIFTS FOR THE RACER IN YOUR LIFE!  The Flat Rock/Toledo Christmas gift flier will be posted on the website by December 1!  We have season tickets, $25 gift cards, ARCA hats, the collector’s edition 50th Anniversary Yearbook, Flat Rock/Toledo jackets, DVD’s and more!

SCHEDULES:  The 2013 schedules are being worked on, and should be released during the holiday season.  We can tell you several dates at this time.

Flat Rock will have open practice Saturday, April 27 and Wednesday, May 1.  The first race is Saturday, May 4.  In honor of Flat Rock’s 60th Anniversary season, a Triple 60’s show with Fireworks is being planned!  The MSA Super Modifieds will return to Flat Rock Saturday, May 25.

Toledo will have an open practice Sunday, April 28.  The first weekly show is Friday, May 3, and the Fastest Short Track Show in the World is June 14.  The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards 200 is Saturday/Sunday May 18-19.  The Silver Anniversary of the Glass City 200 is Saturday, September 28.  We are still working on a show for April to open the season—details soon.

X CARS:  As announced at the banquet and on the web pages, the X Cars will become a featured division on Toledo’s short track in 2013.  While the Street Stocks will not compete as a class at Toledo, they will be eligible to run in the X Class.  More details, including the rules, will be announced very soon.

ROY MOTT:  Roy is making progress in his recovery from kidney transplant surgery.  Bill Leach, our Enduro tech man, is also recovering from surgery and is at home.  Please keep both of these men in your thoughts and prayers.

VANDALISM AT TRACKS:  Both tracks have suffered damage from vandalism sprees during the off-season.  The damage at Flat Rock is severe.  A $1000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible.  Please contact us at 419-727-1100 if you do have information.

2013 PROJECTS:  At Toledo, we have finished grading and seeding behind the new stands, while work continues on re-grading the infield.  We have applied a patch of sealer to the short track at Toledo to reduce the amount of pebbles coming up off the track surface—the first test was promising.  We will get a race in on this and then move from there.  Flat Rock’s plan is to replace the catch fence and uprights in the turn 3-4 area, in front of the spectator hill.

ARCA MIDWEST SERIES:  ARCA will now sanction the Midwest Series, a template Late Model group that runs primarily in Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota.  The cars are identical to the ARCA/CRA Super Series Late Models.  They will run separate schedules, with the goal to have 1-2 combination events in the future.

MORAN CHEVROLET RETURNS IN 2013!  As announced at the banquet, Moran Chevrolet will return as the sponsor of Flat Rock’s Late Model division for the 6th consecutive year!  We would like to extend our thanks to Pat Moran and his staff for their continued support!

December bulletin will be posted by Christmas---hopefully!  The rules changes were posted the first week of November.  The details on the Figure 8 option to not run fenders and nosepiece, along with the Enduro rules and X Car rules should be ready by January 1.  Check us out at www.flatrockspeedway.com or www.toledospeedway.com

Hope to see you at the Christmas party at the Bar/Grille December 21.  Stay warm!
