TOLEDO WALLEYE PLAYERS, COACH VITUCCI TO GREET FANS AT GLASS CITY 200
(TOLEDO, Ohio - September 25, 2012) - While the racing season is wrapping up, it’s just about hockey time in Toledo! And to kick off the 2012-2013 Toledo Walleye schedule, Coach Nick Vitucci and players Kyle Rogers (the team captain) and Bedford-area resident Phil Rauch will greet race fans Saturday night at Toledo Speedway as part of the 24th running of the Great Lakes Helicopter Glass City 200. The 200 lap outlaw Super Late Model invitational is Toledo’s signature event and is the finale’ for the 2012 season.
The new season schedules for the Walleye, Toledo’s East Coast Hockey League team, will be available at the track Saturday as Coach Vitucci and his players will greet race fans and take part in pre-race ceremonies for the event. The Walleye’s first home game of the season is October 13.

While the
Great Lakes Helicopter Glass City 200 will provide plenty of excitement and
great racing on the track, there’s a big prize awaiting a lucky race fan
also! Allegiant Travel will award a pair
of round-trip airline tickets to a fan as part of the activities surrounding
the race Saturday night. Fans will enter
the drawing upon arrival to the speedway, and the drawing will take place at
the lap 101 break. The winner will be
drawn by the leader of the race at that lap 101 mark. Allegiant will also award the winner of the
Great Lakes Helicopter Glass City 200 with a pair of round trip tickets.
Driver Dennis Strickland will give away his helmet after the 200 lap race to the holder of a lucky number program in that drawing Saturday.
And Royce
Cornett, the 2002 Flat Rock Speedway Late Model champ, has posted a $50 cash
bonus to the last driver on the track for the Glass City 200 at the checkered
flag.
“The Great Lakes Helicopter Glass City 200 has something to offer race fans as well as race teams,” noted Ron Drager, promoter of the track. “The quality of the field is perhaps the best it has been in quite some time, which should provide fans with a great race. The Allegiant Travel ticket giveaway and the atmosphere surrounding this event is a great way for Toledo Speedway to conclude its 2012 season.”
In addition
to the 200 lap outlaw-bodied Late Model invitational, a 40 lap Sportsman
invitational on the ½ mile and a 30 lap race on the ¼ mile for the “X” Cars is
also on the schedule for the 200 weekend.
A cash purse of over $50,000 has been posted for the event, in addition to over $5000 in bonus awards and lap money. A driver could walk away with over $8000 for a victory in the 200.

Friday, September 28 is an optional practice day for all teams. The pits will open at 2, with rig parking, pit pass sales, tire sales and tech taking place. The practice will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. All purchasers of pit passes on Friday will receive a free dinner of pulled pork, BBQ chicken, cole slaw, potatoes and corn on the cob, courtesy of Francis Engineering of Leroy, OH. Admission to the grandstand is free Friday.
Saturday’s
schedule has the pit area open at 9:30 a.m., driver’s meeting at 11:30,
practice at 12:15, time trials at 3 and racing at 5 p.m. A rain date of Sunday, September 30 at 1 p.m.
