MSA SUPER MODIFIEDS RETURN TO FLAT ROCK FOR FIRST TIME IN 30-PLUS YEARS AUG. 11

(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - August 1, 2012) - Southeastern Michigan race fans are in for a great treat Saturday night, August 11 at Flat Rock Speedway.  The fast, 2-groove ¼ mile paved oval will host the Midwest Super Modifieds (MSA) for the first time in over 30 years for Heritage Newspapers Night.  The low-slung, fire-breathing, open-wheel creations will return to “The Rock” after losing the 2011 event due to rain.

Leading the group will be the MSA current point leader Trent Stephens of Ravenna, OH.  Second-generation star DJ Shullick of Avon Lake, OH is also entered, along with Toledo Speedway’s 1 lap record holder Charlie Schultz of London, OH.

Other early entries include Bobby Dawson (S. Amherst, OH), Kyle Edwards (Bartlettsville, TN), Matt Marlow (N. Ridgeville, OH), Jon Henes (LaGrange, OH), AJ Liesecki (Lorain, OH), veteran Jack Smith (Sandusky, OH), Jim Paller (Amherst, OH), Jeff Gibson (Sandusky) and Mark Miller (Sandusky, OH).  The MSA Supers will practice, qualify, run heat races and a 40 lap feature event at Flat Rock.

msa_logo.jpg“We are very excited about the opportunity to bring the MSA Super Modifieds to Flat Rock,” noted Ron Drager, owner and promoter of the track.  “It’s been a long time since we’ve had Super Modified racing here, and we are looking forward to August 11.  Our race fans are in for another night of excitement and entertainment,” added Drager. 

In addition to the MSA Super Modifieds, the track’s ARCA Parts Galore Figure 8’s, DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks and the ARCA 4 Cylinders will also be in action.

The pit area will open at 2:30 for the MSA cars and 3 p.m. for the Figure 8’s, Street Stocks and 4 Cylinders.  Practice begins at 4, time trials at 5:30 and racing begins at 7 p.m.  The front gates will open at 4 p.m.
