KATAFIASZ, PADGETT JR., TURNBULL JR. AND KELLEY JR. TOLEDO AUTOGRAPH NIGHT FEATURE WINNERS

(TOLEDO, Ohio - June 22, 2012) - Qualite Sports Lighting Systems, Marco’s Pizza and Parts Galore were all part of Toledo Speedway’s first Autograph Night promotion of the 2012 season Friday evening. Fans mingled on the track with the Toledo drivers and the Michigan Legends drivers, who were making their initial appearance of the season at the Glass City oval.
First time feature winners David Katfiasz and Randy Padgett Jr. were joined by John Turnbull Jr. and Kelley Jr. as each visited the Sun Drop Winner’s Circle. Nick Page of Qualite and Chef Marco greeted the victors and presented the trophies.
The 20 lap ARCA 4 Cylinder main went to second year driver David Katfiasz. The youngster steered his #21 to the big win over Perry Marlow, Megan Osenbaugh and Tom Fry Jr. Marlow had the lead up to lap 11 when Katfiasz pulled his machine down low quickly, went by Marlow and on to victory. David also won the heat race and set fast time at 12:849.
Third generation driver
Randy Padgett Jr. led every lap in the caution-free 20 lap ARCA R & M
Recycling Street Stock feature race.
Randy was dogged by Matt Bunting the entire distance as the duo built up
a 6 car length lead over their challengers.
Padgett took the #7 to the victory and his first-ever feature race win
of his career. Bunting was second, Matt
Ringger third, Kyle Huston fourth and Cory McCaughey fifth, followed by Eric Huston,
Rich Abel, Don Cox, John Rabideau
and Rick Cousino. Fast time was set by
Kyle Huston at 11:718. Heat race
winners were Abel and Cousino.
John Turnbull Jr. led the
charge of the Michigan Legends Cars on their visit to Toledo, taking top honors in the 30 lap main
event over Loren Short, Tony Monge Jr., Sean McPherson, Gregory Rudzik, Rob
Fire, Brandon DeBrakeleer and Trenton Besgrove.
Monge and Turnbull took the heat wins.
A total of 3 red flags
stopped the action in the 35 lap ARCA ACME Dismantling Sportsman race. On the initial start, Terry Jones, Jim
Froling and Greg Stilwell tangled, halting the action and a complete restart
was called. Ron Allen dashed out front
and battled with Howard Kelley until the next red at lap 21 when Norm Lewallen
spun and was hit in the door by Craig Osenbaugh. A lengthy cleanup ensued, and as the race got
back to green, Kelley dashed into the lead.
Mike Young dove under Allen to grab second, and on lap 24, with Kelley
low and Young in the high lane, the duo touched wheels, sending Young hard into
the turn 4 wall and bringing out the red once again. Mike was checked out and was shaken up but
ok, but his car suffered severe damage.
With 11 laps to go, the green again was displayed, and Kelley took off
with the lead, with Allen hot on his bumper.
Ron looked high and low as Kelley held his spot for the win. Allen was second, Dave Arnold Jr. third, Jim
Froling nipped Kenny McKay Jr. at the stripe for fourth spot, while McKay was
fifth. Stilwell, Jeff Myers Jr., Kent
McCloskey, Andy Harding and Dan Grigsby rounded out the top ten. McCloskey and Jones captured the heat wins. Froling posted quick time at 17:324.
