(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - June 22, 2012) - A total of 31 drivers have entered Flat Rock Speedway’s Diamond Racing Products Joy Fair Memorial 100 to be held Saturday, June 23 at the ¼ mile paved oval.  The 100 lap race will pay tribute to the late Fair, who passed away in December of 2011.  Fair is Flat Rock’s all-time win leader with 159 victories and 10 track championships.

Belleville, MI driver Derek Wiley, who has recorded several good finishes this season, has filed his entry, running the entry list to 31 machines.

A large crowd is expected and the forecast calls for sunshine and blue skies, fitting for this race that will honor one of the nation’s top short track drivers of all-time. 

A few surprises are in store for Saturday’s race.  Fans and racers should check out the track’s turn 1 area in the infield upon their arrival.  The speedway will also make a major announcement just prior to the driver introductions for the 100 lap race.  A special commemorative souvenir program, featuring a full-color cover and a 2 page insert of photos to honor Joy is being produced for the event and will be available at the front gate.

A special memorial decal will also be available at the track, with all proceeds going to the American Diabetes Association.  The decals are $4 each or 3 for $10.

In addition to the Moran Chevrolet Late Models/Gold Cup race, the track’s Parts Galore Figure 8 and DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stock divisions will also be in action June 23.  The pit area will open at 1:30, practice begins at 3, time trials are at 5 and racing begins at 7 p.m.  All seating will be general admission and tickets go on sale race day at 3 p.m.  There is no advance sale for the event.

The race will be taped by the Buckeye Cable Sports System (BCSN) out of Toledo, OH and will be shown on the “Sunday Night at the Races” program at 9 p.m. on the Toledo-area local cable access station.  The race is also available online at www.bcsn.tv.
