All American Coach “Fastest Short Track Show In World” Hits Toledo Friday, June 15

(TOLEDO, Ohio - June 8, 2012) - It’s the race that’s described by race fans as a “can’t miss race, you have to see it in person” and on and on. It’s the All American Coach “Fastest Short Track Show in the World,” starring the Town Money Saver MSA Winged Super Modifieds and the winged Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Super Sprints (AVBBSS)! Created by Toledo track management, the event has become one of the top open-wheel pavement races in the country. Time trials have taken on a name of its own, as the 2 groups vie for supremacy---who has the fastest race car on the planet! The date is Friday, June 15.
The entire entry lists will be posted by Tuesday morning, June 12 at www.toledospeedway.com.
The Town Money Saver MSA Super Modified portion of the event includes the entry of defending race winner Bobby Dawson of South Amherst, OH. 2008 NASCAR Truck and 2005 Nationwide Series champ Johnny Benson of Grand Rapids, MI is also on the entry list, piloting a team car to Canadian Mike Lichty. 2011 Series champ Trent Stephens is also on the list, as is second-generation star Dave (DJ) Shullick Jr. International Super Modified Association (ISMA) tour regular Mark Sammut will make the tow to Toledo for the race. Charlie Schultz of Lorain, OH, who set fast time for both divisions in the 2011 event, is also entered in the MSA Super Modified segment.
The Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Super Sprints Series has veterans Billy Tyler (Parma, MI), Jeff Bloom (Bangor, MI), former track record holder Kevin Feeney (Oxford, MI), ageless Hank Lower (Angola, IN), and Canadian Ryan Litt as early entries expected for the race. Kalamazoo, MI driver Randy Sweet, who has raced Late Models and Super Mods at Toledo, will pilot a Sprinter on Toledo’s lightning-fast ½ mile paved oval for the classic event. Local favorite Dave Baumgartner of Ottawa Lake, MI is also expected to compete, as is 2010 race winner Jason Blonde. Derek Snyder, who set the track record in 2010 at an amazing 12:656, is also entered.
With few thoughts that the track record could be re-set after Snyder’s lap in the 2010 edition of the race, Charlie Schultz wowed the crowd in 2011, wheeling Dick Myer’s #50 to an astounding 12:389 in his AVBBSS machine! As of June 8, it is not known if Schultz will be in the Sprinter field for the Toledo race. The Super Modified record is held by Chris Perley at 12:893, set in 2009, although Schultz came close to eclipsing that mark last year also. Each group will run separate race cards for this one-of-a-kind event.
The 2012 edition of this event will be the first time under the new lighting system at Toledo for the open-wheel cars.
The speedway is conducting a pre-race ticket sale for the June 15 event. Race fans can save $5 per ticket by purchasing their tickets prior to race day. Major credit cards are accepted for phone orders and on race day. To obtain advance tickets, please call the track office at 419-727-1100.
The pit area will open at 1, practice begins at 3 and the front gates will also open at 3. The much-anticipated time trials hit the track at 5:30 and racing begins at 7:30 p.m.
