2012 FLAT ROCK, TOLEDO SPEEDWAY SCHEDULES SET

Toledo, Ohio—December 22, 2011:  As winter approaches, thoughts turn to the warm temperatures and, hopefully, sunny skies with the release of the 2012 Flat Rock and Toledo Speedway race schedules.

The schedules are now posted at www.flatrockspeedway.com or www.toledospeedway.com.  Click on the schedule button to download the 2012 schedules.

Each venue will maintain their weekly race cards, with special events featuring a variety of touring series added in to create a pair of diverse schedules for the upcoming season.  Toledo Speedway will feature Friday night racing events as its mainstay, while Flat Rock Speedway’s Saturday race cards are in place as they have been for over 50 years.

Toledo Speedway’s ½ mile, high-banked paved oval will kick off the 2012 schedule with a new look and a new event.  The recent announcement of the replacement of the wooden plank/scaffold-type bleachers with a state-of-the-art enclosed deck grandstand system will dramatically change the look of the Glass City oval.

The first racing event, which is intended to begin a new tradition at Toledo, is the Twin 100’s, featuring 100 lap races for both the ARCA/CRA Super Series Late Models and the ARCA Gold Cup Late Model Series.  The race is set for Sunday afternoon, April 29.  The event brings together the 2 types of Super Late Model racing, the CRA group with stock-appearing bodies and the Gold Cup Late Models with the outlaw-style body.

The ARCA Gold Cup Series will also have 2 additional 100 lap contests in 2012 at Toledo, both Friday night events, set for July 6 and August 17.  The August race will be a combined point event for both the Gold Cup and the Main Event Racing Series.

Weekly racing with the ARCA-sanctioned Sportsman, Figure 8’s, Street Stocks and 4 Cylinder divisions will entertain race fans on many Friday night beginning May 4 through August 24.

The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards Stock Cars will visit Toledo just once in 2012, with the Saturday and Sunday, May 19/20 weekend set for the 200 lap event.

One of the most exciting short track shows in the country, the “Fastest Short Track Show in the World”, featuring the MSA Winged Super Modifieds and the Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Winged Sprint cars, is set for Friday, June 15.

USAC will maintain their yearly open-wheel double-header at Toledo, but with a new twist.  The USAC Silver Crown Cars and the USAC Midgets will be on the race card, with the Silver Crown cars replacing the USAC Sprint Cars for the Friday, June 29 show.

Monster Truck Racing returns to Toledo after a 1 year absence with the signing of the Midwest Monster Truck Association group.  The date is Friday night, July 20, with a rain date of Saturday, July 21.

Toledo’s signature event, the famed Glass City 200 for Late Models has a Saturday, September 29 race date.  The event will mark the 24th running of the prestigious race.

Flat Rock Speedway opens the gates for Saturday racing April 28, with a new event that will see the ARCA Figure 8’s, Street Stocks and 4 Cylinders in competition.  A 250 lap Enduro race will conclude the first night of action for 2012.  The ARCA Late Models will begin their Flat Rock schedule the following Saturday, May 5.

Saturday, May 26 promises to provide something for everyone!  A 100 lap ARCA Truck race, a 250 lap Enduro event and a Monster Truck show are on the schedule, with the evening capped off with a Fireworks display!  Fireworks are also planned for July 7 and September 1 at “The Rock”.

Saturday, June 23 is the date for the first ARCA Late Model Gold Cup race, a 100 lap contest.  The prestigious Stan Yee Memorial 150 is set for Saturday, July 28.

With Mother Nature’s cooperation, the MSA Winged Super Modifieds will make their first-ever appearance at the speedway Saturday, August 11.  The 2011 event was lost to rain.

Saturday, September 8 the CRA Super Series Late Models will make their first-ever appearance at the fast ¼ mile paved oval for the Level Pebble 100.

Each track will offer a host of promotions during the season, including Scout, Autograph and Kid’s Night, as well as the popular Christmas In July prize giveaway nights.  Both tracks will also host a pair of the wild School Bus Figure 8 races; Toledo dates are Friday, May 25 and Friday, August 31, while the Flat Rock dates are Saturday, June 16 and Saturday, September 15.

Season tickets and $25 gift cards are now on sale by calling the Toledo office at 419-727-1100.
