Grant Enfinger Fastest After Two Toledo Practices

Grant Enfinger Fastest After Two Toledo Practices

(TOLEDO, Ohio - October 15, 2011) - Of Grant Enfinger's 36 prior starts in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, May's race at Toledo Speedway was one of his best chances to seal his first ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards victory.

Enfinger came up just short, driving behind Ty Dillon to the start/finish line to finish second for the third time in his career. After finishing 90 minutes of practice at Toledo Speedway this afternoon with the fastest time overall - 16.168 seconds, or 111.331 mph - Enfinger knows that he has another chance at finding Victory Lane at ARCA's home track.

Enfinger led a top five which featured three Venturini Motorsports drivers, including first practice leader Brennan Poole, as well as Chad Hackenbracht. Fowler's lap of 16.169 seconds was a blink of an eye behind Enfinger's time, and Hackenbracht was close in third, driving a best lap of 16.178 seconds. Poole ended the session just ahead of Clint King. Dillon, the series points leader, was sixth.

"The car seems to be good," Enfinger said. "Crew chief Kelly Kovski is getting back to where we were in the spring. We can still make a few minor improvements, but I think overall, we're pretty decent."

Toledo Speedway is special for Enfinger, as it's the track where he made his first true start in ARCA competition.

"Obviously, we're really motivated to win all the races we go to and this is a track that I really like," Enfinger said. "It fits my driving style and it's actually the first race we ever really ran. I feel like we kind of let one slip away in the spring, so I'm definitely out on kill and hopefully, we can finish it up with a win tomorrow."

Yesterday, the Alabama driver announced his intent to race 10-15 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races in 2012 for Senica Motorsports, a new operation.

"It came together really fast," he said. "Senica Motorsports called me the Wednesday before we went to Kansas, so about a week and a half ago, and we put a deal together. There are still a lot of details that have to be worked out. It's a new challenge and will definitely be tough, but they've got good cars and a good motor program over there."

Enfinger cited David Ragan as a NASCAR driver he's taken tips from in the past, and said that the Roush Fenway group has assisted him in other ways.

Should Enfinger push for his first ARCA victory in the final race of 2011, he'll soon have a chance to earn a quality starting position; Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell begins at 4, with live timing and scoring coverage from ARCARacing.com.
