MIKE LUBERDA GOES FOR FIRST GREAT LAKES HELICOPTERS GLASS CITY 200 WIN
(TOLEDO, Ohio - September 26, 2011) - Second-generation driver Mike Luberda Jr. of AuGres, MI, arguably the hottest Late Model driver in Michigan, will set his sights on the win in this Saturday’s 23rd edition of the Great Lakes Helicopters Glass City 200 at Toledo Speedway.
Mike racked up 2 wins in his previous 2 starts in the state of Michigan, winning the Mudslinger 100 at Auto City, MI Speedway and the 100 lap contest at the Owosso, MI Speedway. Luberda has had some great runs at Toledo in the past Glass City events, with his best finish in 2006 with a 2nd place run behind winner Jack Landis. Mike was very quick in practice for the rained-out September 11 event at Toledo, putting him in possible contention for a victory in the prestigious event.
With additional entries received over the weekend from Barry Hartwell (Ada, MI), Craig Everage (Angola, IN) and Ron Allen (Brownstown, MI), the entry list now stands at 36 cars as of Monday afternoon. A few more entries are still expected for Saturday’s event.
Bonus awards that have been posted will push the total payout to nearly $57,000. The weekend begins on Friday, September 30 with an optional practice session from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The main grandstand will be open for the Friday practice at no charge to race fans.
