DEFENDING CHAMP FAIR JR., 3-TIME KING SAUVE READY FOR GREAT LAKES HELICOPTERS GLASS CITY 200

(TOLEDO, Ohio - September 20, 2011) - Defending race winner and 2-time champ Harold Fair Jr. and 3-time winner Steve Sauve are now entered for the 23rd running of the Great Lakes Helicopters Glass City 200, set for Saturday, October 1 at Toledo Speedway.
Second-generation driver Fair Jr. collected the prestigious wins in this race in 2008 and 2010. A resident of Milan, MI, Harold blistered the field in last year’s event and now has his sights set on a third victory in the 200, which would put him in elite company with the legendary Bob Senneker and Steve Sauve.
Sauve’s 3 Glass City wins came in unprecedented fashion—back-to-back-to back in 2002, 2003 and 2004. The Saginaw, MI driver, a member of the Michigan Motorsports Hall of Fame, will now seek a record 4th win in the race at the Glass City oval.
Plymouth, IN driver JR Roahrig will also make his first appearance for the Glass City 200 race. JR has 1 victory to his credit this season at Toledo and has won several big Late Model races in Indiana and Michigan this summer. Oak Harbor, OH youngster Nick Grodi, 2-time Flat Rock Speedway champion Paul Pelletier and Toledo drivers Howard Kelley Jr. and Todd Perkins have also sent in their entries. Several more are still expected, which should put the field over 30 cars.
Bonus awards that have been posted will push the total payout to nearly $57,000. The weekend begins on Friday, September 30 with an optional practice session from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Francis Engineering of Leroy, OH will sponsor a dinner for all pit pass purchasers on Friday, consisting of BBQ chicken, BBQ ribs, corn on the cob, cole slaw and potatoes.
The dinner will be served from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Speedway Bar and Grille, located on the grounds of the track. Additional dinners will be available for purchase. At 9 p.m., the popular “Basement Dawgs” band will invade Toledo Speedway for the first time. The band is widely-known in Southeastern Michigan racing circles and is led by racer Matt Schindenwolf.
Race day on Saturday will see practice beginning at noon, time trials are at 3 and racing begins at a special time of 5 p.m. Sunday, October 2 will serve as the rain date for the event.
