ARCA Trucks Return To Flat Rock August 6; Enduro 250, Train Race, 4 Cylinders Also In Action
(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - July 27, 2011) - A variety of racing events will make up the Saturday, August 6 show at Flat Rock Speedway. The ARCA Truck Series returns to “The Rock” for a 100 lap contest, and will be joined by the track’s Enduro class for a 250 lap feature, a Figure 8 Train race and the ARCA Jeff’s Collision 4 Cylinder division.
The Truck Series will make the trip back to Michigan for a second time this season. The original May 28 race was rained out, and the tour will start the event over for the 100 lap feature race. No qualifying will take place, as the field has been set for this event based on the May qualifying times. Local favorites Paul Hahn (Farmington Hills) Mike Young (Toledo), Brad Yunker (Maumee, OH) and Bob Mikolajczyk (Erie, MI) are all entered for the event
2-time defending champ Jeff Maran leads the field of entries for the second of four Enduro races at Flat Rock this year. Maran won the opening 250 lap race July 2, topping a field of 30 entries for the victory and the $1000 payday. The August 6 race will be followed by a pair of Enduro events—Saturday, September 17 and Saturday, October 8. The May 28 rainout has moved the 300 lap championship race to the October 8 race date.
Figure 8 Train racing has become a fan favorite at Flat Rock and Toledo Speedway in the past 2 seasons. 2 cars chained together, the front car with the engine and the back car with the brakes, sail around the Figure 8 course dodging their fellow competitors in search of the checkered flag and a $750 first place prize. The August 6 race will be the second and final train race of the year at Flat Rock. The duo of Tom O’Leary IV and Joe Whisman captured the win in June. The remaining Figure 8 Train race dates are scheduled for Toledo Speedway on Fridays August 19 and September 2.
The ARCA Jeff’s Collision 4 Cylinder division will also be in action at the ¼ mile paved oval for the Saturday, August 6 race card.
The time schedule for August 6 has the pit area opening at 3 p.m. for the ARCA Truck Series and 4 p.m. for the other classes. Practice begins at 5 p.m., qualifying for the 4 Cylinders will take place at 6:15 and racing begins at 7 p.m.
