RAIN SHATTERS GLASS UNLIMITED NIGHT AT FLAT ROCK
Flat Rock, Michigan-July 23, 2011: A pair of heavy rain showers finally put an end to the Glass Unlimited-sponsored night of racing Saturday at Flat Rock Speedway. The first downpour came after qualifying was completed and pushed back the start of the program 30 minutes. With the Late Model feature on the track and 4 laps complete, down came a heavy rain once again, washing out the remainder of the show.
All rain checks will be honored for any remaining event on the 2011 Flat Rock schedule at its face value. Rain checks must be exchanged at the ticket office upon arrival to the track. If there is a difference in price between the rain check and the admission amount for the race selected, the difference will be charged.
Jim Thiel led the 22-car ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Model field to the green flag and led the 4 laps that were completed before the rains set in. Ron Allen was tucked in on Thiel’s bumper, with Eric Lee, Terry Bogusz and Ricky Kargel in pursuit. Fastime Racing Engines and Parts Fast qualifier Jack Varney Jr. (11:721) was next in line. The remainder of this race will be completed Saturday, August 13, with the field locked in for this event. Heat race winners were Joe Hawes, Allen and Keith Nelson.
The ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stock division heat winners were Clyde McKee, Chad Guinn (in Al Hasenfratz’ car), Steve Searles and Jimmy Rae. Tim Moore posted the Fastime Racing Engines and Parts Fast Qualifier quick lap at 13:525 for the 31 car field, while Tony Camilli led the B group at 14:908.
Billy Earley took the 10 lap heat race victory for the ARCA Parts Galore Figure 8 class. Jeremy Vanderhoof posted fast time with a lap of 20:568 on the Figure 8 course.
