Hantz Enters Toledo Allegiant Gold Cup Race For Friday

(TOLEDO, Ohio - July 6, 2011) - The ARCA Allegiant Glass City Gold Cup Late Model Series moves to Toledo Speedway Friday night, July 8 for round number 2 of the 5 race series.  Angola, IN resident Scott Hantz has filed his entry this morning for the 100 lap event at the rocket-fast Glass City ½ mile paved oval for the first of 4 Super Late Model events on the 2011 schedule.

Hantz has a great track record at Toledo the past 3 seasons, winning 8 feature events.  Defending Gold Cup champion Mike Root will be looking for his first-ever Toledo victory.  Root has scored numerous wins at a variety of tracks across Michigan, Ohio and Indiana in the past 2 seasons, but the Toledo win has been elusive for the Grand Rapids, MI driver.  Hantz and Root battled to the wire last season for the Allegiant Gold Cup title, with Root taking the championship by just 5 points.

Race #1 winner Dennis Strickland will be gunning to duplicate his victory at Flat Rock Speedway June 25.  The 100 lap event for the ARCA Late Models is expected to draw cars from Michigan, Ohio and Indiana, with $2000 awaiting the winner.  Strickland has 3 wins at “The Rock” this season in his new Port City Racecars chassis. 4th place Flat Rock finisher Harold Fair Jr. of Milan, MI will also be at Toledo. Fair Jr. captured the Gold Cup championship in 2007 and 2008.

The pit gates will open at 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 8, practice begins at 4:30, time trials are at 6:15 and racing begins at 7:30 p.m.

The top 3 drivers in the final points will receive a pair of round-trip tickets from Toledo to Florida, courtesy of Allegiant.  A total of three (3) provisional starting positions are also reserved from the final points for the 23rd running of the Great Lakes Helicopters Glass City 200, set for Saturday, October 1.

The entry form may also be downloaded from the track’s websites.  Go to “Forms” to locate the entry blank.  The current entry list follows this release.  Log onto www.flatrockspeedway.com or www.toledospeedway.com for further information.
